Story edits will not put your story back on the front page

Several people have tried to bump their stories back to the front page recently.

There is no way that can be done.

Edited stories simply get returned to where they were before their edit.
The authors in question hadn't even edited their stories at all

Re-reading each story to verify it again is very time consuming, and takes away admin time from doing more productive things, like verifying someone else's new story.

Please check your work thoroughly before submitting it. Read through it, spellcheck it, read through it again, preview the story using the preview button, and then submit when you are 100% happy with it.

Thank you.
The Moderators want to get your new story approved, and don't want delays.
Okay ? What about when you write a story and then you write a part 2 and want to connect them? Is it okay to use edit for that reason?
"Haters make me FAMOUS!!!"

Sassy
When you write a part 2, there is an option at the bottom of the page to link the two.

You can link your current submission to any of your former stories, in fact.
Not sure if it's changed since then Rocco, but I remember that when I wrote my Pics For Jebru stories I wanted them linked so that there would be a link at the end of chapter one, to take you to chapter two. I think that's what Sassy is asking about. You don't really want someone to go back to chapter one from chapter two, so when you submit chapter two, you have to go back and add in the link to the first chapter. Is it still ok to edit a story for that reason? Or is there a way to do that without putting the story back through the editors?

You do not need to go back and edit chapter one to put the link to chapter two in, in fact.

Go and open chapter one of your highschool story, for instance, which is in the Novel category. Scroll down to the bottom, and you will see that the site has automatically included links to the next two chapters. It means that there really is no reason to go back and edit the first installment, to include a link to the one that follows.

Think about it from our side of things. If someone writes five chapters or more, and then goes back and edits each and every one of them to include a link which is going to be put in automatically, we still have to verify what, if any changes have been made. So seeing them appear in the list of stories that are waiting to be verified means we have more work to do, and it is going to take longer to get those stories back out, and the new ones up. In the time your story is back for reverifying, it isn't going to be available for reading.

So if chapter two has been posted, and someone sees it's the second part, but want to read chapter one first, he or she can't find it anyway. It means that you're going to lose readers.

Another thing is that all your stories are listed on your profile page, so an author could just as easily mention visiting that so that a reader can get the chapters they're looking for. Don't forget that it is the new chapters that hit the main page, piquing the interest of readers.

Besides, I really think that a lot of readers know how to navigate around web sites, and if a story is chapter three or four, and they're interested, they'll find the previous ones.
Only changes to the story itself will result in it required verification by a moderator.

If this is not happening, then please let me know.
Thanks for clearing that up for me Gypsy and Gav.
