Can't imagine what would be happening. Likely a technical glitch - like all the server problems? - that someone should fix.

There have been no changes made to the story scoring process for sometime now (although we are due for an upgrade in the next week or so). I had a quick look at a sample of those stories, all the scores from member votes have been 5's, with the exception of a single 4. You may want to disable anonymous scoring from your settings page if you are still concerned, we can track scoring behaviour much better if its tied to a logged in member.
