I can count on one hand how many members have contributed anywhere near as much as Rach has to the community here over the years.

Some of her early stories really caught my eye (links to a handful of my favourites, follow), and her infectious enthusiasm and love of life made her stand out like a beacon of light. I was delighted when she accepted a position on the Mod team, and she's been an unbelievable addition and asset ever since.

Not only is she a fabulous author, she's incredibly supportive of other writers, generous with her time, and a friend to many. We have gone through many highs and lows together, and through years of chats and shared experiences, I count her as a true friend.

On top of verifying thousands of stories, she has helped with site policy decisions, judging and shortlisting in competitions, member queries and issues, being the creative catalyst for several new categories, and so many other things people might not be aware of. I couldn't ask for any more than she's given to this site, and am incredibly grateful to her for her commitment and professionalism.

In close to a decade, she has been a prolific writer, notching up over 170 stories and poems.

She's a multiple times competition winner, has countless RR, OS and EP awards, and has received over 1 million views on her stories. She's a terrific talent.

We do fall on the same side of many issues, yet we may at times fight like cats and dogs, having knock down, drag out arguments, but you will always be the exceedingly stubborn, much older sister to me (even if I am older).

However, even with all that, there still comes some underlying respect.

I think most folks here appreciate sprite on a nearly daily basis. She is our poly, naked, stoned, left wing, taser-toting ambassador of all things Lushie.

Rachel has been one of my favorite Lushers over the years. I have interacted with her both backstage and front and always enjoyed her company. She's funny and playful most of the time, but can be deadly serious when the occasion demands. Her wisdom and life experience show through a lot, too, when needed.

We haven't always gotten along here, for one reason or another. That said, I have a tremendous amount of respect for you and what you contribute to Lush. If it were possible, I would turn back time and un-do some of the things that have been said and done that weren't right. For many people here at Lush, you are Lush and rightfully so. Never change your demeanor or your sassiness as it continues to keep the site fresh and fun.

Just for the record, Nicola 'She Who Must Be Obeyed' failed miserably to designate Sprite's absolute, no doubt about it,,best story ever, at least imo, 'Blondie and the Black Knight' The thing is, as a writer, Sprite is top-notch and one of the few I keep heckling to begin a novel. But as a person, Rachel is a major goodness to all of Lush.

Sprite is so many things to so many people. I didn't know her until I started posting about my indoor cat getting out and not returning for five weeks. At a time when my family was being jerks about the whole thing she sympathized and made me feel better, even offering a few humorous revenge suggestions when my family threw away all of Apollos toys and beds after the first few weeks. Her message to me when I shared about his return was so joyous, it meant a lot to me.

Oh and all the other stuff too, author, mentor, friend, and all around awesomeness.


She's not, she's in a class all her own.

In all my years here, I've never heard anyone say anything negative about Rachel, but I've heard lots and lots of good things. She's pretty much the epitome of the statement "To know her is to love her." She has an infectious charm that is a benefit to everyone she's around. What can you say about Rachel, our Princess Sprite? That we appreciate her? Yes, of course, and I think - I hope - she realizes how much, and that it's every day of every week and not just this week.

Rachel is one of the very small group of ELFs around here, you see: Essential Lush Folks, those without whom this incredible site wouldn't be what it is. (I realize, with this starting on St. Patrick's Day, that she should have been a Leprechaun, but I'm not clever enough to make that acronym work.)

Like the very few other ELFs, she does more than just read and comment, more than write amazingly creative, sexy stories, more than mod a few stories or jump in to answer questions, offer guidance, or referee disputes.

Oh, she does all of that, but she is also quick with a brilliant quip or clever twist of phrase, or a word of support when someone is struggling, or of caution when someone is stirring up trouble. Her quick wit often amazes and delights; she's as warm, playful, and cuddly as a kitten one minute, but fierce as a tigress protecting her cubs the next when the situation warrants it. A true enigma, soft as velvet, tough as nails but always with a heart of gold and a desire to do her best for everyone she comes into contact with, and leave them with a smile on their face.

So, yeah. (And it's all right, she knows how wordy I am.) Appreciate her? Yes, of course, by all means, but I think those of us that have had the honor and pleasure of knowing her, even if only through this site, would say we love her even more. I know I do, and that it's a true honor and a privilege to call her a friend.

Congrats Rachel you are a gem with all you do and your stunning writing.

But more than that, as Nicola said, you are so incredibly supportive of new writers and, as one who has benefited so much from you comments, messages and forum posts, all I can say is a heartfelt thank you. My most favourite lush memory will always be your comment on Oxford Street which meant so much to me and was the moment I thought I might just belong here as a writer.

As you may have guessed from my comments I am a complete fan-girl when it comes to your writing. Thanks for being a lush superstar
