Before I fix the issue with the ordering of your friends list, I thought I would just clarify *exactly* what's required here.
So your friends list natural order is date created, as new friends are added they *should* appear at the top of your friends list (on your profile page). Your personal friends list page, that you view to see who's online (from the top toolbar) is always listed in alphabetical, then online order.
When you re-order your friends from your settings page, this effects the order of your friends list on your profile page *only*. With this custom ordering, would you expect new friends that are added to appear at the top of the list, or the bottom (on your profile page)?

I'd prefer new friends on my profile page, to appear at the bottom. Every time I accept a request from someone I don't know really that well, they get put at #1 on my friend list.
Most of us prioritise our friend list so those we like the best / known the longest etc, are at the top. As it is, each time I add someone, I then have to go into my friend settings, and drag the new person out of the top section.
So yes, at the bottom please.
Since the switch over to the new version, the new friends that I add are automatically being put on the bottom of the my friends list, which I totally love. Previously, I had to move every new friend to the second page, because I keep my first page of friends in specific order. I vote adding them to the bottom.
I am with Nicola here I vote for the bottom as well too please.

I agree with what everyone above has said. I'd prefer them to be added to the bottom of the list...
I also agree with Doll, I prefer my online friends to show in the order I have them, rather than alphabetically, if that's at all possible?

I liked it the way it was, that they appeared on the page, the latest additions...the way things were, and btw, I am not a big fan of change...unless it's from a vending machine...
I think ideally, it would be nice if we had the option of reversing the order...so that the oldest friends would appear on the profile page...I could easily go for that...as long as they were in order of how they were added...
can i ditto whatever...i like the bottom too please...on my friends page I like the onlines to be in alpha order and then continue alpha order for those not online.

Default behaviour:
On your profile page, your friends will be listed in date created order, the oldest appearing first. As new friends are added, these will be appended to the bottom of this list.
Your friends online page will be listed in alphabetical order, with a secondary sort on online status.
Custom behaviour:
If you choose a custom order for your friends, by dragging one or more into position, this order is respected on your profile and friends online pages. As new friends are added, they are appended to the end of this list.
At anytime you can "reset" the order back to the default behaviour.
Now to code it.....

btw, if you already have a custom ordered list, you will need to make a change (of order) to one of your friends to activate this change.
I sort of miss the good old times when you didn't have to be friends with others for them to be friends with you.
It was a bit more flattering. Now I have to bribe people to follow me to get the same feeling.

WARNING! It is very easy to block your friends by accident when reordering the avatars in your friends list. I still have not been able to undo the BLOCK. I have had suggestions but the UNBLOCK feature just does not show up anywhere.
