Please keep posts on topic. There have been a spate of occurences lately, and the original posters have every right to get aggrieved.

For those who don't know what threadjacking is:

Threadjacking is a deliberate attempt at steering a discussion away from the original topic by bringing up another, which may or may not be relevant to the content of original post. Depending on the context, threadjacking can be used as a timely ice-breaker in an awkward situation (especially if you are the topic creator) or more commonly, as a form of cheap amusement for trolls.

Interesting question on what constitutes a thread jacking.

This morning I was responding to the thread regarding popular fiction. I started my response with the words "the more interesting question is", which would have interjected a variation on the theme. I had second thoughts given I had read this thread. I don't think my interjection would have constituted thread jacking but it would have definitely tweaked the direction of the thread. I decided to start my own thread.

In some cases people get upset over very little. Many threads diverge, I have posted topics that took off in directions other than what I would have liked because the new direction was more interesting to the community. Sometimes divergence is good but I do understand your point about trolls.

The troll is different. The troll is malicious, that is they look for a sentence or phase they can use as a jumping off point for their agenda. People who are dogmatic use this approach. Trolls are usually nasty, what some refer to as cowards behind a keyboard. I can tell the difference between a troll and a member of the Lush community who tweaks a thread innocently enough and others prefer that direction over the original.
Good point Kyle.

Every thread has a tendency to head off in different directions, that's what makes it interesting. The deliberate threadjacking however usually takes a sharp tangent away from the original post, and that's what I am getting at.
I see your point.

Only Rocco. It's the Italian heritage, he needs a full body wax every month. Feet included.

It costs me hundreds of dollars a month, but it's well worth it.

Torture the data long enough and they will confess to anything.
