Whateverever happened to the good old days when signatures on forum was a line of text
now its seems to be huge adverts for some nonsense or just look at me
Im sure a bleeding feature film will be the next thing I see... its getting stupid

I'm kinda with DB on this one. There are places to display your art and your posters and your self-pics. It gets kind of tedious reading through a thread and seeing the same enormous advertisement 19 times. And no one reads your 10 line signature, so you're really not accomplishing anything by having your personal manifesto there.

an avatar is 150 x150 tops ... not half a page ..no comparison

DB's point of being on this site is not all about the adverts is maybe a little true; this site is to do with the writing first and formost. As usual a good balance is needed, as always with most things there is always some loophole to what you can't but more so can get away with. It takes guts to express something your not happy about and say what your un-happy about.

There's nothing in there anymore about showing genitals, that was removed a few months ago.

Users are legally responsible for the content they upload, and unless it's something offensive / hardcore, it can stand.

As for the signatures, I had them changed to 10 lines of text maximum (which is overkill still in my opinion).

We could remove the ability to post pics in the signatures, or the pics could be automatically resized to a designated maximum.

The pics are fun, however some people do not understand the concept of self moderation.

This gets my vote. Every post has your avatar. If you have a picture that's just that amazing, use it as your avatar. If you have more pictures, put them in your profile, and use your sig to link to your profile.

I agree too, the third of a second it takes to scroll past somebody's signature is a real problem...get five or six posts in a row and pretty soon we're dealing with upwards of two seconds! Clearly this is unacceptable, despite the site restrictions already in place.

It's not about the time involved, Lexy. And really, if everyone kept the pics sized as your current signature sketch is, I don't think anything ever would have been said. But more and more people are getting more and more elaborate - and large - signatures, and it just gets annoying sometimes to see it over and over and over again.

Take even yours, for example, which is one of the sensible ones. Why, if you like that sketch so much - and it's a very nice sketch - do you not just make it your avatar? Why do you need to give us a photo of your body in profile AND a pencil portrait? There are threads, I believe, for people to post their artwork, and you have your profile. It's not as if there aren't outlets for all the pictures and look-at-me banners.

Don't get me wrong. I don't feel real strongly about this one way or the other, but I do believe that it's unnecessary and annoying.

I think maybe 5 lines of text or a 150 height banner max will be the go, seeing the same massive banner on every post does irk me somewhat also.
