I think you're looking for THIS PLACE.
LOL No, been there too. But I have seen forums with that feature as well. I have to admit thought that I was expecting a comment similar to that one.

Aha, unless you're kidding why would you want Lush to start charging us for sending messages?

Being slightly more serious, it has been suggested in the past and discussed at length (in this very forum, I think). Most people who commented (notably, the boss) didn't like it as an idea.

I think we need to start charging a buck per message, like Facebook does...
I had to take a screenshot, because apparently there were some who didn't believe...myself included...![]()

JohnC - the trouble we have with the forums, are that they are a fairly closed ecosystem. It's very difficult for Gav to get into the code, and make changes.
What we are working on, to compliment the Forums, is a "Groups" feature (you can start new threads, post replies, invite people to a particular group, message in bulk etc), which Gav is coding himself. We'll be able to add anything we like to that, with ease![]()
I've seen sites do away with forums entirely, using this type of mechanism. I think there's a place for both though, the forums are kind of the watering hole, something which I find the likes of Facebook lacks in a way. They prefer millions of niche watering holes. Both approaches are equally as valid.

I too prefer the forum over groups. I have seen forums add a "LIKE" to each post though, so know it can be done. I would presume it has a great deal to do with the base source code though and software package used. I just tossed it out that and had not noticed that it was already discussed. I know many times I would have loved to just let it be known that I liked a post without having to send the member a PM or make another post saying so. No worries though.... just tossed it out there. I am fine either way.

Yeah, they tried that move on me the other day...I like the way it says "Facebook says right now only a small number of people are testing out the program"...nice of them to pick me, makes me feel sorta special...
I can't see that lasting...someone over on the FB team has been smoking some real good stuff...![]()

Do we have an option of being notified when someone has made a comment on one of our stories? Or maybe that's a crazy amount of work ... or if someone can tell me where that option is ... great

Quote by DirtyMartini
Go to "Account"..."Settings" then "Settings Privacy"...look down the page toward the bottom where it says about e-mail notifications...you'll see a box to check off...
Any problems, let me know...

Thanks DM .... does that email go to Lush email or my registered email address?
oh .... and it would be nice ... Gav ... if the setting could be JUST for comments on stories ... not including comments on profile page.

I have an idea for an improvement
Might just be me, but this would be handy.
At the moment, any editing of an existing story is passed back to a mod for approval - which is great!
Content and cover image changes should have a quick once over before being implemented, don't have any problem with that at all.
What would be good though is if this didn't apply to making a change to the 'Link This Story' option.
If you post a 'Part 2' story and want to edit the first to link onto the second, this currently takes your first story offline temporarily and requires a mod's time to re-approve, which I know is a valuable resource.
Is this something that could be implemented?
All the Lush mod's do a great job and this just seems like an additional burden to me. Anyone else agree?
I'd bake you all fancy cupcakes, you know I'm a dab hand in the kitchen![]()

(you'd think I'd know!!)
I don't know how other's do it ... but I get thank you messages after I've written a comment on a story (even an OLD story) .... and I rarely check my stories after they've been up for a few weeks (mostly because the interest dies out).

Speed up your server or something. I'm no techie but this has to be one of the slowest sites around. I thought it was my PC/IPad but when I access other sites it's fast and no hang ups, not so with Lush!
Thoughts?

Is that right?
I'm sure I had to get Gem to re-approve one of my stories when the only thing I changed was the link???

I get an email notification every time a comment is left on a story...
Like DM says, it's in your personal settings...
The nice thing is that it previews the comment in the body of the email, so you don't even need to check lush...
(It happens with your comments as well, I mean a preview of it... It's fab!)
