Forgive me if this has already been discussed - this thread is really long and although I quickly looked through some of the responses, I clearly have not read every suggestion.

I wondered if there was any thought to editing or updating the online status options?

Currently, the options are ONLINE or AWAY (or one could visit hidden). It has been my experience that when I've visited visible and put my AWAY light on, it does NOTHING in terms of letting my friends and/or newbies from poking me, messaging me, whatever and I often feel obligated to respond despite my door sign. I hate being rude which doesn't help but in all honesty, AWAY doesn't really clarify much anyway.

I would love to see a few more options added; DO NOT DISTURB, BUSY, ALREADY CHATTING, MESSAGE ME, COME BACK LATER, etc. I'm sure you get the point.

I'm sure you can think of some better signs to hang but thought I would share my thoughts.

Thanks so much!

Sadly, if people don't get the 'message' when you are in away mode, whats to stop them from messaging you anyway in those modes you have suggested? It wont. If you dont want to be disturbed, you just have to remain invisible. There is an option in your settings that when in away mode it will bounce an automatic message back to the sender, but I am sure you are well aware of that. Sorry Belle. You cant fix ignorance sometimes.

How about a handful of volunteer editors/proofreader?

I know the verifiers to some editing but that's small stuff. I'm talking about people that can get messaged by any author who needs help no matter how bad.

It would cut down on the editing the story mods do. I forget who did it but my last story took 20 minutes of extra editing by a story mod before it got up. Yes I had a friend look at it but she's not a "professional" editor. I personally would use this with every story.

We had that. People ended up using it as a free editing service, and there were also issues about content deemed "illegal", which disturbed a few of the volunteers. Story verifiers are fitted with kevlar uniforms when they join, and are immune to such atrocities.

We scrapped it.
I don't know if this only happens to me, but I thought I'd put it out there. When reading mail in my Lush inbox there is a tab for "Read Next", but when I click it it goes back to the mailbox instead of the next message. Then I have to click on the actual next message. Not really a big deal, but if there's a "Read Next" option, it should work when clicked.

We have an area where online messages (black boxes) we received are stored. It would be nice if there was a similar one that stored messages we sent too showing when sent and to whom it was sent.

In the 'Online Message History' it does say on the right 'Click on a message to view the conversation'. If you do that you will see what you received and what you sent with date/time stamp with that particular member.

Thanks!! Learning new things everyday. I guess it pays to look more closely.
An option to rearrange the order of our photo albums, just like we can rearrange the order of our videos/friends/pictures. I don't think it would be that hard to implement.

And maybe a different strategy to rearrange our Youtube videos. The move up/down option can be quite a chore if we try to move a video at the bottom of our list.
I was wondering if there might be a way to re-organise stories which users have posted?

I'm at the stage where not all of my stories fit on my profile page any more, so I need to re-order the ones that I'd like people to click (reasoning that ones displayed on my profile page are more likely to get hits and that ones which have to actually be viewed by clicking on the "all stories" link are less likely to be seen)

What it means though is that rather than being able to keep some of my "series/linked" stories together and in sequence on my stories page, I've had to split them up and not have them sitting in the correct order, they're a bit jumbled. Obviously each story will have a "continue reading" link at the bottom, but I wondered if it might be possible to have a way of displaying your best/favourite stories on your profile page, but to be able to organise your "all stories" page so that they can be tidy (god, I know I must sound OCD about this and maybe I am, but I'm guessing that there will be others who feel the same?)

I don't have mine ordered by category, rather I've chosen the way I want them to sit, you know?

Do you suppose that it would be possible to have a "series" category for stories in many parts, but without losing the actual category they are in? In the same way that stories with an EP, or Audio or a RR have?

I know that I've had feedback from quite a few people who enjoy a longer read, but I'd be reluctant to put any of mine in that section, as I would "lose" the category they were originally posted in and I figure that a Hardcore or Reluctance story is more likely to get better views than one posted as a Novel...

(hope this makes sense, I can barely string two words together today ha ha ha)
I would love to see when you write new things, when you are waiting for them to be approved if they could be at the top of your stories list.

It is hard to keep track of them when they are all mixed up through all your stories.

Actually, if you click on the Account, My Stories - you will see that they do default to the top of your list, but will just show as unverified... But you can still re-order them from there...

Hi Mazza - Mine do not default to the top of my list. It is just the last poem/story that I wrote. I am talking about Non-Verified work. Those are just mixed in the things that have already been approved.

I hope that makes sense.

Oh, mine don't do that... Unpublished stuff sits at the top until I move it...

As if they'd dare do it any other way Maz!

I do like the idea of organising as Maz has mentioned.

I think I've mentioned it before but thought I'd try again.

An onscreen chat function would be great. One similar to what's on facebook and (i realize they're multibillion dollar businesses so it may be easier for them). A chat function that is a onscreen window and stays in place as we navigate from one page to another within the Lush site. No need to click reply in black boxes or to lose the previous text anytime we go from profile to forum or thread to thread. And unlike the current chat box that is in a whole different browser window that has to be opened/minimized/maximized each time you want to read or respond after going back to the actual site.

The onscreen chat box could stay in the lower left or right corner, cursor always ready. No matter how many times you change pages, it remains. If that isn't possible to have through multiple page navigation, still having a pop up chat box on one screen would be beneficial. I always have 2 Lush windows open anyway, one to black box and one to navigate the site. If one had a chat box it would eliminate the constant "reply" clicking on black boxes.

I like LM's idea of the chat function thing - I'm forever losing BBs...

I had another suggestion which has been rolling around in my head for a while...

I really like the forum ticker thing at the top of some of the pages and I tend to use it quite a lot - I'll often click on things just because they are "trending" when I might not have bothered otherwise...

The suggestion that I have is that I think it would be great if we could see a trending story ticker on some pages?

Now, I know that we can see all the new stories on the front page, or in our newsfeed or whatever, and I know that the ticker would mostly show current/new stories, but sometimes I'll see that a friend has commented on a story and when I click, it turns out to be an old one - this can be a real treat sometimes...

I just thought that it might give older, less-seen, stories a wee random chance to get some more views/votes/comments? (I don't know how it would work if someone has story genres blocked and if there would be a way around that or not?)

Anyway, it's something that I would personally like...

(I always feel really needy when I post in here BTW hahahaha)
I like both of the above suggestions.

Does the existing online chat box (not the IM) disappear when you open different windows? I've not tested it (shows how much time I have to chat with people).

A smaller version of that down the bottom right, which stays there when navigating different pages, would be nice.

The IMs do disappear if you navigate to another page, unless you've already clicked on a new page, in which case, they will sometimes appear...

Like LM, I tend to keep two pages open so that I don't miss any BBs (not that I usually have tons at any given time, but it is one of my favourite ways of communicating as I Lush...)

I rarely use the chat box function because it doesn't work so well on my iPhone and also because I tend to switch between my phone and my laptop - a chat function would mean that it wouldn't make any difference which I was on... Of course, it's absolutely not necessary, but it would be a lovely feature to be able to use...

I do this too - I still miss a lot of 'real-time' BBs because they'll appear on the first window I have open, which I don't always check regularly. I sometimes find them a few days later, but by then it seems weird to reply to a conversation someone was trying to have with me several days earlier.

Sometimes I'll still reply.. Just to mess with their heads...

To be honest, I've used online chat less than half a dozen times, in the whole time we've had it. I get instant messages a fair bit, but miss many for the same reasons as you guys. I have to backtrack to my messages folder, click on the message, then go to that person's profile, and click the IM link.

It's clumsy.

I don't know what volume of use the online chat gets (Gav would know this), but how about merging the instant message and online chat functions, into just one, which resembles FB chat as LM suggests?

I know Gav is snowed under, so this would have to wait, but I'll ask him what's doable on a technical level first. The mechanics are all in place, it's a question of merging the two, and allowing the function to be pinned / float.

The online chat box, not IM/BB is a whole different browser window. You can chat on it very easily, it works well. But if between messages you want to go to the forum or your profile, you have to go (or at least I do on google chrome) the status bar on bottom of computer and select the browser window that has the home site. Then do that again to select the browser with chat when you want to send or receive a new message.

Thanks for looking into it. It may even streamline the site a little bit to go to the smaller onscreen thing. That kind of thing is wayyy out of my league, if anyone can do it, Gav can.

I think that sounds like a wonderful idea!! I love how much of Lush is social... It's so much more than just stories!

Poor Gav...

Ha ha, there's a tagline for Lush right there...

Lush - it's so much more than just stories...

Now - I was wondering whether there's already a forum for Spoilers and such? If there isn't, I think that it would a good section to include. Thanks.
I think it would be cool on the "My Stories" page to have statistics for views, comments, and score for each story.
Darkroom series (light exhibitionist)
Amnesty Program series (first time)
It would be nice to have an input box for author's notes to readers that can appear at the beginning of the story, similar to the input for moderator notes.

I'm guessing that the reason notes aren't wanted at the beginning is because they they show up in the preview of the story on the front page, category page, etc. A specific input box could allow that to happen without change, and only display on the story itself.

There are times when chronological notes and such really need to be at the beginning of the story, rather than at the end.

Three Alarm <= Almost famous, give it a read and get it one step closer!

A delete button your own forum posts/topics would be great.

I personally can only lush from my really slow phone and I double post alot. It would just be nice to be able to fix it myself.
Support for Spotify Embed in either profile areas or forum so we can post playlists and stuff from one of the most popular free music streaming services out there.

How about a ''Are you sure?'' button when deleting friends via the dropdown on your friend's page. I found it surprisingly easy to accidentally delete a friend I was trying to talk to and the undo button didn't work. If it was a two step process, it would never happen accidentally. Thank you. Oh and Nicola, your kitty with headphones av is hysterical! Rock on!
