Reading another thread gave me this idea.

To keep people from maliciously voting stories down I was wondering if there was a way to make comments mandatory for a vote of 3 or lower.

That way if they don't like something they can leave constructive criticism and those who are just assholes are detered from doing it.

What about those who aren't assholes and just don't want to leave a comment?

If the author wants forced comments, there's an option for that.

I know but I'm not talking a blanket option just for low scores.

I believe that if someone votes a story low there is a reason and we as authors need the criticism in order to improve. This also stops the people from voting low for no reason.

Just an idea I thought I would throw out

Do you mean it as an option that the author can choose?

Or just a standard sweep that applies to everyone?

If I remember correctly, and I might not be. There used to be this in place.

this artificially raises scores, as then people are forced to comment so they simply change it.

I was thinking standard but having it as an option may be a better idea actually

This was my line of thinking.

As a whole, forced commenting usually brings about generic comments like, 'Great story' or 'This is hot', and it results in fewer scores overall.

Forcing commenting for lower scores would typically result in either someone upping their score to avoid the hassle or just not scoring at all. That kind of defeats the purpose.

It all seems like a bit much just to avoid the few people that abuse the system because despite the system abusers, the most honest sampling of comments and scores come from people who do so of their own accord.

You have a "joined date" for when you joined LUSH. I would like to see a date stamp that shows when "possibly" ... for example... and I became friends. This would be visible only to me through my friends list.etc.

I agree this would be a great feature.
How about some indication when a Lush friend "unfriended" you - only visible to you of course.

If we're doing stats, the one I'd quite like to have is the total number of reads on all my stories combined. Then I can see how far away I am from the Millionaire badge haha.

A agree with Annie, I'd like to see total story views listed on the stats section. Also, total number of Famous Stories and Legendary Stories.

As far as 'forced voting' it is very similar to having to wait 5 minutes to score a story. It weeds out serial low scoring troll/riff-raff voters.

If one comments before they vote, then they can comment in the regular comment box. As far as the 5 minute minimum between votes, it is inconvenient for members who often read stories while not logged in and then like to log in later to quickly vote on what they read. However, it is also excellent at weeding out the serial troll/riff-raff voters.

So its just what it is, to get a better result at some things sometimes causes a little inconvenience at others. Nothing is perfect in life.

I've just noticed it as well and really like the idea. It's a great way to be able to say thank you for commenting.

I wonder if it might be possible to disable it in our activity feed though? Mine is currently full of nothing but likes on people's story comments...

Lol, that love affair was shortlived.
I use a phone and it won't let me post comments.

Story Moderators are not editors. It is not our responsibility to get your story up to site standards—that lies solely with yourself.

If your story, for whatever reason, does not meet our standards, then the moderators will explain to you why and often offer useful advice to help you rectify this. We have a bank of external and internal resources that aim to help writers improve which we can and will direct you to.

If you have had specific problems with any of the moderators, this is not the forum to discuss it. Please use the Contact Us page, contact one of the Site Administrators, or even send me a PM.

If you have issues with the technical process of submitting stories, please be more specific. In my opinion, it's quite a straightforward process.

I have not sent a story in as of yet just heard the feedback from others of the process of going through it. Now I do believe this site only wants the best to submit stories just that we are not all great writers. So I do believe the stories are only as good as the Story mods are and some could think they are doing a services while not helping at all. If you feel like I am attacking rest a sure I am not. Now could LustStories.com relax on the rules or even better revise the rules that is up to them.
I'd missed that Thanks for posting Maz and Gav thanks for that feature

There are a vast number of authors that would tell you that the voluntary help that the moderating team give is nothing but supportive and helpful. When I first submitted my own stories I was not a great writer. It has only been through my stories being rejected, the guidance of the moderating team, and fellow authors help that I have increased my skills as a writer. I will always be grateful for someones help in my self-improvement.

When I was asked to moderate I saw it as a way to give back for all the help I had been given. The moderating team is there to assist authors and maintain a brilliant standard for the readers of the site.

It's always been my experience that you should give something a go and judge from your own experience.

I don't think its asking a lot that authors take time and effort to produce a story that the readers will enjoy. If you didn't feel the effort was worth it, then perhaps there is another site that would better suit?
' who viewed my profile ? ' would be a much needed feature , in addition to be able to ' like' a profile . thus making it easier to connect with persons one might not have necessarily been able to meet in Chat Rooms !!!

Ugh, as much as I love the new feature, it's rendered my newsfeed useless sad

Please can we hide liked comments on it?

(Possibly, it was just yours that were showing this time, no offense intended) smile

No offense taken.

I agree with you. (It's a hot mess, huh?)

I'd like the ability to hide my "like" comments, please.

EDIT: For the record, I love the feature and other recent improvements added! Thank you!

I knew you'd get it, just so happened it was yours at that point, but my feed's been full of nothing but these today...

LOVE the feature, but don't need to see it in my feed smile

I think its a general feeling that people would like it removing from the feed and the request has beenesent to Gav, I'm sure if it's possible he'll sort it asap.

Maybe some way of seeing who has viewed my profile?

I agree with you
Does this site gonna become like facebook?
I would like to have both authors in a joint story be given equal presentation, and their story to show on both of their pages equally.
And, why not prevent people from being in more than one chat room at a time?
How out a way for people who don't want to talk to members of the opposite sex to be invisible. For example all the bisexual women who don't want to talk to men.
