Chicken Wings - Sweet and Sticky Version
Great for crowds and kids! Tastes good warmed up if there’s any left.
Ingredients:
3 lbs. chicken wings, (I buy drummettes)
1 egg
1/3 cup flour 75ml
1 cup butter 250ml
Sauce:
3 Tbsp. soy sauce 45 ml
3 Tbsp. water 45ml
1 cup white sugar 250ml
1/2 cup vinegar 125ml
Instructions:
Cut wings in half or just use the drummettes.
Dip in slightly beaten egg and then in flour.
Fry in butter (do not use margerine, only butter works!) until deep brown and crisp.
Place in shallow roasting pan.
Mix all sauce ingredients together and pour over chicken wings.
Bake at 350 F (180C) for 1/2 hour.
Baste wings with sauce during cooking.
Enjoy!!
I am the worst recipe person because I don't measure; I just taste.
BUT find three creamy cheeses and leave them out until they are room temp but include one as a bleu cheese but it is a strong cheese so make sure it is less than the other two by half.
Meanwhile get a nice loaf of french bread, slice in 3/4 inch slices, brush lightly with olive oil, put on a cookie sheet and toast in the oven until lightly browned and crisped. Not too much oil or you end up with a greasy mess. 350 and keep checking.
When the cheese mixture is room temp put it in a blender with plenty of splashes of port wine. The cheese must be extremely creamy and warm.
It is best to make the mixture the night before so the flavors can meld nicely. Sometimes I throw a pinch of parsley to give it some color.
Let the mixture come to room temp the next day and there you go smear it on your rounds and enjoy. Sometimes I add some fresh pressed garlic to the olive oil to give it some kick when I brush on the toast rounds.
I love wings...If I do them at home I just mix some sweet baby rays and devils spit bbq sauce and cook and eat.
