What is your favorite BBQ Sauce?

I used to have a huge BBQ sauce collection that I collected from all over North American. After I had to move, I'm now just rebuilding my collection. I like to try a different one every time but I tend to enjoy the more plain basic sauces.

I've tried the North Carolina, South Carolina and that horrible Alabama white sauce. (Is there anything good in Alabama?)

But I tend to like that Kansas City, deep smoky flavor. A splash of bourbon always helps.

I haven't been bothered to create my own sauce but I'm open for suggestions.

I don't recall brand but I do enjoy this one smoky and peppery BBQ.

I don't like the sweet type.
I have been using KC Masterpiece Original for years.

Beth's BBQ Sauce:

1/4 Cup Apple Cider Vinegar
2 T. Worcestershire Sauce
1 Cup Tomato Sauce
1/2 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Brooks Tangy Catsup
2 T. Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Salt (skimpy)
1/4 Teas. Chili Powder
1/4 Teas. Paprika
1 Dash Cayenne Pepper
1 Teas. Dry Mustard
1/2 Onion (chopped fine)
1/4-1/3 Cup Brown Sweet Molasses

Stir together, bring to boil on medium heat, then turn down and simmer on low heat for 80 mins. Stir occasionally.

That looks good, I'll try it.

Having spent many years in KC, my favorite pre-packaged sauce is Gates.

That sounds good. Why do you call it catsup though? Is that an Ohio thing? Do you rub the ribs first then use a sauce to baste? I feel like there should be a slash of jack daniels in there
I'm going to make ribs tomorrow and I think I might try the Root beer guy fieri sauce.

I'm going to try Beth's sauce too. thanks for sharing.
Whoa, do l love BBQ!!!

I always buy sauce from some of my favorite local BBQ restaurants, or will drive way out in the country to great BBQ places. I avoid the chains.

My favorite styles, but these are all ultra close, as l love all four.

1. North Carolina style vinegar BBQ sauce - HOT
2. Memphis style, tomato based red
3. Kansas City style dark thick
4. Texas dark style red

I don't like the Alabama white sauce either. In Georgia, mostly North Carolina style and Memphis style are available. Accompanying Brunswick stew is more often outstanding here.

You're not going to get any more of that Kansas City flavor than this stuff, dude. I can ship you a pair of bottles of this restaurant's barbeque sauces for about $20 or maybe a few dollars less, depending on overnight air freight to your address.

I believe each bottle is 16 ounces in size and both are $4.99 each. Their coleslaw is also world-class unique.

I prefer the zestier 'hot' one. A little bit of it goes a long way...

The mild flavor is a bit too sweet for my palate. You can only purchase it from the restaurant - which IMHO offers the best barbeque in all of the Kansas City metro-plex.

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
I know somebody that lives in MO now.. I told them to get me this Sneads sauce based on this post of yours.. I always like trying different things.
