Melbourne is a great city. If you are staying in the city, there are heaps of places to go. Its a very artsy city. A place to drink is never far away. Suburbs like St Kilda, Fitzroy and Richmond have a great feel. Also, get your ass to the races. Flemington, Caulfield or Moonee Valley (some night races there). Nothing better than a day at the races. Also lots to do and see along the river. Its not the spectacle of Sydney, but its got a charm all of its own. 3 weeks is a long time to spend in one city. I have been there a few times during the Spring Racing carnival and its an absolute buzz. If you like to shop, hold on to your hats. Probably one of the best places to shop anywhere in the world. I will give Melbourne that.
