How do I change my profile image to something different to the white silhouette?
If you point to your avatar on the top of the screen (next to the house icon for the Home Page) a menu drop down.
Move your cursor to point to Settings on the menu, and you get a few of the settings
At the bottom is More Options. Click that to get the Update Your Details screen.
In the first column on Update Your Details is Change Avatar.
You can choose from a library on the site by clicking View Avatars, choose an image from your own image gallery, or upload one. Mine is uploaded.
