From what I read, this happens every few years, and now again, testing has uncovered another HIV-positive porn star, according to this report. A positive HIV test is of course a big deal in a sex entertainment industry, and as most of you know, lots of porn is performed "bareback" or condom free.

Porn star Madison Young was interviewed here about condom use in porn, and how she would like to see the industry respond to this latest HIV outbreak.

What do you think about condom use in porn?

Does it take away from the whole purpose of watching porn, which is to watch a fantasy, not the reality of safe sex? I fall into this group. Sex is naturally skin to skin, and it's so much hotter as something that looks spontaneous with the potential for a little bit of danger. To me, condoms are a necessary evil that I don't ever idealize or fantasize about by choice.

But what about the sex workers? Should the industry be strictly condoms-only to protect them? I think that most of them would not be in favor of mandatory condom use, but it would put a lid on sex-transmitted HIV outbreaks.

I can understand that the view of a condom ruins the fantasy, but the first thought that came into my mind in how it affects young kids watching porn. Some already think that a jizz in the face is the normal way to finish and they probably think its alright to not use a condom as well. Mind you, the porn industry probably culdnt care less about that

Condoms in porn is something that doesn't really bother me one way or another. It doesn't detract from the fantasy enough for me to say that someone should risk their health just so I can get off quicker. But at the same time, I'm not going to say that a condom has to be worn either.

I understand what you mean, but I don't think the porn industry should make decisions based on people that shouldn't even be watching it.

I totally feel you on the 'porn moves' though LOL. I've developed quick reflexes for when I think a guy's pulling out in order to crawl up to my face for a 'money shot.' I'll give him one back, right in the nuts!

I don't watch a whole lot of professionally produced porn. It's just too scripted and unreal for my taste. You can tell that it's all about the money (shot). Most of what I watch is amateur porn, produced just for the fun of making it. I guess because of that, I don't mind condom use in a porno. Condoms are an unfortunate part of life, and I like reality over play-acting. Especially the horrible play-acting that comes with most professionally-produced porn these days. For those who do produce porn, though, I think it would be easy to choose between them. Just make ten condom-free movies, and ten similar movies (with similar actors and actions) where condoms are used. Then see which ones sell best. I would imagine if there's a group of clientele that like to watch movies where condoms are used, and a group of actors that prefer working with condoms, you could easily match the two and produce condom-oriented movies for that market, while still producing condom-free movies for the rest of the market.
