"Ignorant" is when you don't know something because nobody has taught you, or you haven't been exposed to the knowledge. "Stupid" is when you don't know something because you have refused to learn.

To me Stupid is when you have been taught to do something a certain way ,, but you decide to do the opposite,,and end up in trouble or harmed.
Ignorant is when you"ve never been taught.
This has been my own definitions for years, but I was interested in learning how others thought.

Stupidity has nothing to do with IQ because educated or so called intelligent people do stupid shit all the time.
For example, people who ride in the left lane and refuse to move right. People who don't know how to merge onto a freeway. People who camp out in line all night for merchandise and then trample each other in the stampede when the doors open. These are examples of stupidity.
Ignorance is thinking you know something, forming an idea, basis or opinion on something you know absolutely nothing about or what you heard from other sources or pieced together, without studying or researching it for yourself to discover truth and truth is not an opinion, truth is found when all theory and conjecture have been thoroughly analyzed and debunked, all theory and writing have been analyzed and your basis is harmonized thoroughly with all knowns to agree thoroughly with the analysis, with no contradictions, errors or unknowns. Then and only then do you have truth. Until then you have only conjecture and ignorance.
Following erroneous traditons, theories, fables, fairytales and beliefs just because its the hip thing to do or because everyone is doing it is an example of both stupidity and ignorance.

To me Ignorant is lack of knowledge and stupid is lack of brain cells or common sence
