Ok, this is no laughing matter. But the dude arranged to meet up with his conquest in his horse and buggy!!! I'm glad the was arrested, good to have him off the streets.

I don't believe any of that. Amish people do not take pictures of themselves or anything else. They also don't use cell phones and texting.
Sounds like a false report to me.
A lot of younger Amish people in my area have cell phones and even ipods, a guy I work with gets some pretty crazy texts from an amish guy he knows.

They must be from a different cult then. Cause everything I've ever heard/read of them the true "plain people" do not do that.

Chef, at 16 Amish teens are sent out into the world to experiece what the rest of society lives like. The hope is that after seeing how morally corrupt the rest of us are that the Amish teens will return to their values and accept fully the lifestyle of their parents. Most return to the fold, some do not. Others, like this guy may teeter back and forth.

Rumspringa is another unique Amish tradition. Think Girls & Boys gone wild. I just watched a pair of National Geographics programs about Amish traditions & lifestyles. One program dealt with Rumspringa and traditional Amish community; the other followed 5 youth, 16 to 23 years of age, as they lived in London for a year away from 'home'. Interesting pair of programs.

Most of them are home schooled or schooled within their community, but not in classroom setting past 8th grade.

What this sexter did was illegal, indeed. But he may have been steered into divulging more and more of his tendencies...the number he 'accidentally' reached belonged to a 12 yr old girl. After the first text message, the child's parents took over the conversation and baited the Amish kid in the ongoing conversation.

Now...what kind of parents allow their 10, 11, 12 yr old child to have a cell phone for texting or photo trading? The whole thing is pretty sordid, imo.

The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

I'm very aware of the tradition. I also thought it was only for a year and that for the "traditional" Amish there is no half way. It or out but, not half assed. As it were.

If memory serves, I believe after a year they are to make their decision if they want to return to the fold or stay out in the big bad world. And I admit I'm not sure if it's all Amish that do this or a certain sect or off branch. Oh well.
