I've got the itch to go somewhere new for a short vacation. Last December, some friends and I went to Playa del Carmen and absolutely loved it. It was just a tad cold at times, especially when wearing bikinis, but otherwise I thought it was just about perfect.

For anyone who likes beaches and/or getaways, name your favorite location and why you love it so much. Pictures encouraged!

Not over crowded, serene and Conch prepared in every way. If you're not into seafood then a good portion of the attraction may be lost. To get away without hassle, and not having to get into puddle jumpers. This one is nice.
Eviotis, this looks great smile You forgot to tell us where it is, though.
Great Topic!!

Almost any of the 150 secluded beaches of Ibiza...

Sas Salinas

& Cala D'hort

are a few of my favorites
It totally depends on what you want out of your beach experience Xuani... are you looking for raw beauty and snorkeling opportunities, for pure relaxation and serenity or a cool, fun party vibe?

Based on what I think you want, proximity, cost-effectiveness and cool vibe, I'm putting my vote in for Cabo. As usual, I can recommend some great hotels and party spots too.

Medano Beach for fun:

Lover's Beach for serenity:

Note: I do agree with Kiki, Ibiza would be a brilliant choice, but that's just a more intense scene and more $.
Los Roques - Venezuela Cristal clear water white sand beaches and a little charming town, the perfect romantic relaxing get away. Really amazing charming place!!

For me, there's no question. Orient Beach, St Maarten.

You can have civilization...

Or you can have clothing-optional, quiet solitude.

What more could you want?

Woopsy! Turks and Caicos.
I just honeymooned in the US Virgins Islands in May. So I am sure that will always be our favorite beach location. One evening I had the hotel set up a candlelight formal dinner for just us on the beach and we dressed up. Her in an evening gown and me in an evening tux (but we were barefoot). The table was set up down on the sand by a palm tree. Candle light, table w/tablecloth, silver serving ware, waiter, champagne, seafood, the waves coming ashore, even a fiddle player (violist if you must.) So it was expensive but it was well worth it!!!!

Check out my story, "Unintentionally Voyeured On Our Honeymoon." It is a true honeymoon story.

Gorgeous, Buz!

Here, I'm posting it for you.

i know it's probably cliched, but i spent a week with my girl in Hawaii - we stayed away from the big island and oahu and went to Maui and Kauai... breathtaking. even i, with my aversion to water, fell in love. and there are waterfalls and flowers and beautiful hikes and peace and quiet and the sunsets... smile

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

I love Malaysia, but it´s a bit far for you.

Belize has some beautiful beaches. Caye Caulker is a lovely place. Has some good night life too.

I was recently living in Cabo San Lucas, there are some nice beaches. There are some totally remote beaches off the beaten track that are lovely and incredibly romantic, and you never see anyone. Diving is nice too smile There are some fabulous restaurants, and hotels. San Jose is nearby and has a really nice arty/hippy vibe. I can always recommend some good hotels and things off the beaten track.

Then there's always Costa Rica. A mix of beautiful beaches and awesome mountain ranges. Beautiful country, dirt cheap. Jamaica has the same mix but at the moment I wouldn't advise any friend to visit.
Tofino's Long Beach - the West Coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada

Stunning views year round...

Benidorm Spain
I know I am biased, but there are some truly amazing beaches in Scotland...

This one was actually used to promote Thailand (yes, they pinched a Scottish beach pic!!)

Aah... amazing country!!
