Which do you like the most? And do you think that poems get rejected less often than stories do? Why?
ok there is no competitions here because stories are WAY better! I didn't write anything yet so I haven't the foggiest about rejections but it make sense that its harder to screw up all the bits when youre writing a poem. Poems take like what? Maybe 15 minutes to write up? U cant compare it to the stories and also who ever got horny and thought mmm I think I'll go find a poem to wank to. Writing poems are good for practice before writing a real story tho.

Yup, about 3 minutes. Time invested depends on the audience.
I think there are a lot of great poems out there, I didn't even read poems until I wrote one, and now I see. The feelings they can produce in less words than a story!
There are some exceptionally talented poets on this site just like there are some very talented story writers ... all embedded within a lot of mediocre fare. You have the good and the bad in both art forms. I enjoy both (my list of favourited pieces on this site includes both stories and poems).

I do have a pet peeve about seeing spelling mistakes in poems. Given that this is a very short piece of writing, there really shouldn't be any excuse for a misspelt word.

I'm not sure about rejection difference or trends. A moderator would probably be able to better answer that one.
I've written both... okay, so mainly stories but still.

So far I've never had any particular tales to tell that lend themselves to poetry. I like to develop characters, settings and scenarios, while poetry lends itself more to the raw emotion and action. But on the flip side, poetry has been a nice way to express emotions that don't have a story behind them.

Some poetry requires all of 15 minutes to spit out and polish up a bit. Some takes 15 weeks, months or years and the creator is still never satisfied with his or her effort.

Sometimes the intended audience of that poetry has long since faded from view, so those jotted down emotions are only viewed by the writer with little meaning for any other person. Not always, but in my experience - usually.

Writing poetry is good experience for creating more poetry. Stories are a bit different. You practice those by writing those.

As far as which form is rejected less frequently on Lush? Toss a coin for that answer.

Let's see...I've had two stories here rejected that I don't see any way I can get on Lush...without major modification...and I've had one poem rejected that I'm sure will never be on Lush...

So, for me poems get rejected less often...

How about plays? My first play took three tries to get approved here...
