Just finished The Terror (historical horror, it got made into a TV series) and Erabus (the true story of one of the two ships in The Terror). GREAT back-to-back reads.

Reading this now. Reallly interesting. A certain someone is, I think, tired of hearing me quote crazy facts from it (e.g. - 100 fires a year are set by arsonist fireman).

when thunder rolled by Ed Rasimus. very compelling read about what life was like for an airforce pilot in Vietnam.
Just finished Gestapo Mars by Victor Gischler and am working my way through Sin-A-Rama: Sleaze Sex Paperbacks of the Sixties by Adam Parfrey and Astrid Daley, and Beyond Heaving Bosoms: The Smart Bitches' Guide to Romance Novels by Sarah Wendell and Candy Tan.

Just finished The Sweetest Fling, by LJ Bradley. ?
Play Dirty by Sandra Brown. It just appeared on my bookshelf. I can't remember even reading her before but I'm liking her style.
'The Curse of Kehama' by Robert Southey. This is a lurid gothic novel written in poetry way back in 1810. I have an 1830s edition - amazing, epic stuff it is too.

I personally can't stand the Bible
It's boring and full of overhyped bullshittery

I love Alan Furst and think I have read them all. There should be a new one by now, but nothing has been out since "Hero of France".

This is what I am reading now.

It is about an aristocrat under house arrest in the Metropol Hotel in Moscow in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution. Beautifully written.

Given your interest in Alan Furst's novels and your current Russian read, I wonder if you've read any of Martin Cruz Smith's Arkady Renko novels. It's noir detective stuff set in immediate post-Soviet Russia. Brilliant stuff.

Were you able to actually get through this? I tried, and found it impenetrable. It just sits on my bookshelf and mocks me.
