I'm going to have to go with Creedence Clearwater Revival. Although, it was a three-way between them, Queen, and Fleetwood Mac.

Nightshade Part 1 & Nightshade: Part 2
How can you ask this question? It shifts from day to day Yesterday it was PJ Harvey. Today it’s Porcupinr Tree. Tomorrow it will probably be Wolf Alice. Or Jethro Tull. Or Todd Rungren. Or maybe I’ll be lusting after Patricia Barber or Lucy Dacus. I reserve the right to change my mind.
NIN, Arctic Monkeys, Nirvana

Moody Blues will always be my Number 1 band.
RIP Graham Edge and Ray Thomas
I have fantasies of Radiohead covering Melancholy Man. It would sonically be a perfect fit, and I think Thom Yorke would see the humor in it.
Don't believe everything that you read.

And Denny Laine, and John Lodge, and Mike Pindar. At this point, only Justin Hayward is left of the classic Moodys. If you include the 80s-90s lineup, then Patrick Moraz is still around
I am not longer entirely sure who would be my favourite band. The Moody Blues are definitely up there as an all-time favourite but I have acquired a lot of new favourites over the past decade or so.
Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish and their Dutch peers Epica.
Some of the Nordic melodic death metal bands like Dark Tranquility and Arch Enemy.
Modern prog acts like Pineapple Thief and Porcupine Tree.
Too many good ones to have one favourite.
