ey Jude and Let it be, but Norwegian Wood and others get me singing still. My first record was the 'Please Please Me' 45
Very difficult question with so many choices for so many different reasons. The one that always comes back to me, for the brilliance of its composition, the haunting perfection of the melody and for the emotional impact would be:
Here There and Everywhere
I must say the song Yesterday is my favorite but I love all their songs.
wow hard to chose,...... Hey Jude, Yesterday, i love Paul when he left and sang with Wings......Oh Baby I'm Amazed
I Should Have Known Better... loved it from the first time I heard it.
I Want You (She's So Heavy) -the emotion of the simple song with the tune always gets me
choosing just one is pretty impossible
Eleanor Rigby-It makes me cry every time
Maxwells silver hammer- I named a cat after this song
Here Comes the sun- gives me hope
She's leaving home- also gets me right in the feels
Hard choice.
Gonna have to go with A Day in the Life.
Also: She's Leaving Home, She Said She Said, Rain, Here Comes the Sun. My absolute fave album side is side 2 off Abbey Road. Maybe the best album side by anyone, ever.
My mom was a huge Beatles fan, so I grew up hearing Beatles music playing at home. I was born the year John Lennon died. I can play nearly the whole Beatles song catalog on keyboards, and I could never pick just one favorite. Their early work is easier to play on the piano than their later work, as I discovered there is one recurring chord shift which can be found in almost half of their early hits. Elton John had a similar 'Elton chord' which can be found in many of his hits. It's kind of amazing when you hear it and realize you're hearing the same chord over and over in so many of their hit songs.
My faves include:
I'll Be Back
Tomorrow Never Knows
If I Fell (this one is really interesting musically, due to key changes)
The whole Sgt. Peppers album and Magical Mystery Tour album
Rubber Soul and Revolver were groundbreaking, musically
Eleanor Rigby for George Martin's arrangement and orchestration
I could go on and on....
When I pound out Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da on the piano, everyone in the neighborhood can hear it! :-)
Hey Jude, will be on top of my favorite Beatles song.
