Where did "Troll" come from on lush

Hey everyone this had been bugging me for awhile now.
We've all seen the horny guys in the chat area, that hit on every girl generically, hoping that they'll get one cyber session out of the lot. Many members refer to these people as trolls.
Now, I'm curious who came up with that, as that's not what a troll is at all.
A troll is recognized on the internet, gaming community, and real life as some who acts says, or posts in an instigating, inflammatory manner in the hopes of provoking an argument or to just piss someone off in general so they can laugh about it.

(example 1)
Guy: "hey baby private me, hey baby private me for good time."
This ISN'T trolling^

(example 2)
Guy1: "It's raining cats and dogs today"
Troll: "what are you talking about? It's raining water, it's a process called condensation, idiot..."
This IS trolling^

Maybe not the best example I could have used, but I'm sure you get the picture.
I believe the lush definition of trolling refers to "patrolling" as in driving around looking for a girl to pick up. As a troll, I find it disgraceful that I'm being associated with example 1.
We put slot of hard work into what we do for peoples amusement. Haha, before I anger anyone I'm ending my statement here for your own input.

So...this is wrong?

dammit, Alan! you promised NOT to share those photos with anyone! god, i am going to have to delete my account and start over under a new user-name aGAIN!

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Lol in certain context yes and no
Garza, I'm on a few online communities so I see this repeatedly. I agree with your explanation. They basically want to stir up trouble just for the hell of it and sometimes they ruin it for others. They are best left to their own ignorance.

I do agree with you on that what some call trolling in the chatrooms is not in terms of forum postings. Many who act after the going down the list to find a shag way of trolling are just new to the site and have not learned the Lushian culture and costums. however the chatrooms are more like the real world than forums, so trolling for us would actually mean just that "'to cruise in search of sexual encounters" (recorded from 1967, originally in homosexual slang.)' dictionary.reference.com

It has nothing to do with any fantasy trolls. (no matter what wikipedia thinks it's about)
Troll, in this context, always made sense to me.. the hairy creature who hides under the bridge and looks up girls skirts and grabs their ankles when they try to cross. yep. perfect sense.

You can’t truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of violence. If you’re not capable of violence, you’re not peaceful. You’re harmless.

Trolling is a method of fishing, which is essentially what the guys described are doing — dragging the bait until somebody takes it. There's a difference between trolling and being a troll.

I don't call them trolls, I call these members lurkers. They sit in the chat rooms and do not contribute to the conversation UNTIL a new female member joins the room then all of a sudden they are chatty but only to the newbie. Once the female leaves, they are quiet again.

However, they do have the right to do that and they are not breaking any rules. The bedroom description reads 'Open sex and cyber talk' and the basement 'Come in and chat about or act out your BDSM Fantasies'. So the men that do asks 'do you wanna cyber' should not get cussed out and asked to leave if they understand that once a lady says no - she means no and to move on. If they continue to harass the ladies, this is when they tend to get called trolls.

I have never liked the chat rooms using the term trolls. Seeing a room stating "NO TROLLS" in the description to me, makes the site less inviting.

This really doesn't answer where it came from but it's my LOL
When I think of troll, I think De tre bukkene Bruse or Three Billy Goats Gruff. But I think Magnificent1rascal has hit the nail on the head.
no kidding, it's quite effective on certain bodies of water, pursuing specific species of fish. I've hooked a boat load of walleye this way.

And it's basically what it means...in chatrooms. Although being an ogre could apply too.
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.

You kinda answered your own question.
