Just heard this one from an impressive new all-woman supergroup, the Highwomen. Not familiar with all of the members, but Brandi Carlile alone is amazing.

An interesting Genesis cover - I Don't Care Anymore by HELLYEAH

Ruined By A Redhead - She told him she would ruin him; she kept her promise

Sunset Grill - Sometimes you find love where you least expect it

All My Love - Real love can last a lifetime and still feel brand new.

Tender Seduction - sometimes the long game pays off.

Cardiacs cover by Idiotbox. Better than the original, I feel.

Wow. Definitely interesting. I loved Genesis in the mid-seventies but they sort of lost me after Abacad.

Your post inspired me to search out other Genesis covers. I'll have to post the one I like best below.
I found this and love it. Lamb Lies Down . . . is still an album I dip into from time to time. Was my favourite of theirs back in the day.

On the second play of this now. It's really growing on me.

Yeah, scrambled my brain too when I realised who this band was. Think I pref this version of the band to the mid-seventies one. I did love "Deep Purple in Rock", though — when I was fifteen.

one thing i can tell you is, you got to be free...

like this cover, but i'm a fan in general??

Say. Her. Name.

Only heard one really good cover before that I like. That is Pseudo Echo's version of Funky Town.

Wow, Grace. This is really rather good. Thanks for posting it. Time for a reassessment of Alan Price.

One of the few covers of this song that get it somewhat right. Most covers completely misfire IMHO.

The original recording of "I Put a Spell on You" is not the one we know and love. It is more like the covers, before Mr Hawkins became "Screamin' Jay".

Yes, there seems to be an earlier recording by him, though I can't seem to find it online. Where most covers go off track IMO is leaving out the rawness. Either by some orchestral backing or vocal frills ("dumdumdubidoopdumdu…" - Nina Simone, "lalalalalalyin'lyin'" - Natacha Atlas, etc.). To me that kinda breaks the whole idea of the spell.

If you know where I can find Hawkins' original recording please let me know. I'm curious what it sounds like.

EDIT: I may have found the earlier recording after all, right after I posted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toeLYKor3og
It's a bit less intense, but not all that different from the version I know of him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFcusdmFwgQ

This cover of Donovan's "Season of the Witch" might tickle your fancy.

Didn't know Rachel Maddow used to be a hippie singer

A couple of points.

Alan Price was one of the original Animals and is a very fine jazz etc. keyboardist, but he and his friend Georgie Fame released some lacklustre pop songs which may have put you off. Fame is worth a look-see too. He played extensively with Van Morrison and Mose Allison amongst others.

I mix up Alan Price and Brian Auger because Auger also works with Eric Burden. Check him out, too.

Looks like we're in for a nasty spell of wether.

Thanks, Grace. Yes, my one memory of Alan Price is the Dancing Bear song. Now I will be checking his stuff out. I was very impressed with the footage you linked to.

George Fame is another name that had slipped off the edge of my world. But I was just a lad when these guys had their moment in the sun, while you would have been a teenager.
