Discovered a copy of "The Story of O" stashed away in our house.
I forgot that I had read Boccaccio's "Decameron" in HS. I wrote a book report on it, which I thought was worded very carefully. It was not carefully enough for my English teacher's liking and I got detention......
found that this did not qualify under my school's internet blocker...
Many years ago when I was still in my teens I found myself with a copy of D.H. Lawrence's "Lady Chatterley's Lover"..

While relatively tame by today's standards the story of a wife cheating with her husband's gamekeeper had an interesting effect on my young and extremely inexperienced libido.. Been a fan of erotic stories ever since.
Tell me, who was it you left me for? Was it Laszlo, or were there others in between? Or - aren't you the kind that tells?
I think I always have, even sorta been in one - Penthouse Forum, 1980 (forget the month) 'A Hip Halloween' - my college GF sent that in, and yes, it's truth - I still have a copy of that
I first discovered I liked reading sex stories when I first read a sex story.
I've been reading mystery and romance novels since I was 14 and I was bored and didn't have anything to read at home so I looked on the internet for a story and I found lush
For a while I couldn't stop reading thru Penthouse Letters website. Then I found Lush.
For me, it had to be Henry Miller's Tropic of Cancer. It was being passed around by my sixth grade friends. Been checking the used stores for years for it and still haven't found one. Maybe people hoard it or pass it along to their chums. ;)

Later, I found Penthouse Forum Letters. There's nothing sexier than our imagination.

Here's what Wiki says about Tropic of Cancer:

Tropic of Cancer is a novel by Henry Miller which has been described as "notorious for its candid sexuality" and as responsible for the "free speech that we now take for granted in literature".

In 1964, the U.S. Supreme Court declared the book non-obscene. It is widely regarded as an important masterpiece of 20th century literature.
My best friend lent me a mills and boons novel in high school and urged me to read it. Though the scenes were not that detailed, it triggered something and much later on I found myself searching for sex stories and found Lush which I liked a lot for the quality. I could watch porn but a good sex story with a great story line and characters and the detailed description of the sex scene and the feelings inside the characters' minds is what I enjoy. Words are powerful. That's something you can't find in porn.
Well I didn't start getting down on myself till a few years ago. I was brought up pretty straight-laced, sheltered. This is going to sound so stupid but I Googled 'masturbating' to figure out what the hell it was when I heard it on a show. So yeah, porn did it for a couple years, but it was hard to be discreet about it so... I went the safer root and looked up erotic stories. Way less detectable. And I figured out that reading those stories did a lot more for me than porn ever did, so I just stuck with it. I never watch porn anymore. It just seems so fake. With stories you know what the characters are thinking and feeling and you can relate so much more.

So yep! That's my story :P
I have to say my curiosity sparked after watching a fairly erotic adult movie. It was a porn but It took place where the story was narrated to them through the whole thing basically. And i found that turned me on a good amount. It was called Cabaret Desire. I wondered about stories and went on a search. I found a couple sites with stories and didn't like them, they were horribly written. Though it might be silly. But then, and this may be silly, I clicked on Lush and read a story here. I was quite surprise ad how awesome and well written it was. Read a few more by that particular author and that's all she wrote.
My dad had left one of his Penthouse Forms in the bathroom and I picked it up and got hooked. That was when I was 13.
Stumbled across one of the far inferior sites many many years ago while looking for stories of the more animate medium, tried it out and discovered I really liked it. I've since quit watching, but still enjoy reading.
Whilst waiting for my medical when I joined the RAF at 16 someone gave me a copy of a story about a doctor who had sex with his patients think it was called Dr Mole.
Well, for me I always had a thing about reading. Loved reading in fact. So when I came across a fairly erotic scene from one of Ken Follet's books, I wanted to read more of such sex scenes and thats how I found sites containing erotica where stories were published by people. Loved reading them instantly smile
There was a detailed sex scene in the book that I was reading. It turned me on so I searched online for erotic stories then found lush. Got hooked on the site ever since.
I like books. And so--before the era of ebooks & the internet ... it was libraries and bookshops --they have plenty of books and well...books --have plenty of sex.
My mom was a Harlequin Romance Junky when I was a kid. So we had hundreds of those books in the house. I would sneak them into the bathroom with me and read them. I realized that the good sex parts usually occurred directly in the middle by the advertisements. So I would skip to those parts and I did this almost everyday for years.
My mom had some steamy romance novels lying around the house when I was young. I read them and got hooked. Was writing dirty stories in elementary school and passing them around to all my friends. Of course I ended up getting caught and causing a big to-do. Still writing...
As with most girls I imagine it started with steamy romance novels but I found them lacking. I started writing erotica in high school because the novels just weren't hot enough for me.
Sex is not the answer. Sex is the question. "Yes" is the answer. ~Swami X

It all started reading my dads penthouse and other magazines with stories in them at the age of 12
I came across the site sex stories post years ago because i was curious to see if there was any stories out there few months back came across this site just by chance after typing in sex stories in the search bar. great site
well back in the 50s and 60s you had very little choice but playboy then came penthouse and hustler ,now that get some things going shit
I read some Anais Nin as a teenager.
I suppose like others it started with the stories in girly magazines such as Mayfair and Fiesta. Later I bought a copy of a book by Anais Nin. More recently I found erotic story sites by Googling, I started with Literotica, which is still very good, but Lush has the added benefit of being an online community where it is possible to explore my fantasies with others in a secure environment. Written erotica is in the end more titillating and satisfying than porn.
Young enough to get into trouble but old enough to hide and get away with it. Firstly started with my dads and uncles mags that on occasions layed around.
By reading one, and I liked it.
Wow .....when i read a story about a couple's first Threesome .......it was so hot ...
Boccaccio's "Decameron" was sexy and funny.
