If you could bring one band or solo artist back from the dead, who would it be?

George Harrison and John Lenon so we could have The Beatles back
With my nic being what it is, of course I'm going to say Stevie Ray Vaughan. The only time I ever cried over a celebrity's passing was when that fucking helicopter took off into the dense Wisconsin fog and piled into that mountainside following SRV's final Alpine Valley show.
That being said, there is no way Jimi Hendrix isn't on the list, and John Bonham too.
Hendrix is probably the one whose loss was the greatest, though. John Lennon was barely even still John Lennon at the time of his passing. He was merely Yoko's plaything at that point, with "Imagine" likely being his last creative hurrah.
Even Bonham's death occurred when Zeppelin was on the downside of their run. Sure, they would have continued on for a decent while longer, but were they ever going to be as majestic again as they were during their peak years? Doubtful.
Jim Morrison? Same deal. Elvis? He had long since ceased to be anything but a bloated caricature of himself.
Hendrix? He still mattered. He seriously mattered. He was still on top of his game. In fact, with the Band of Gypsys, he was finally breaking free of the pop music/circus act shackles he so loathed. There is endless speculation as to where he was headed, musically speaking, but wherever it was, it was going to be typically interesting and wildly influential.
Duane Allman was another hugely important guy who died at the very pinnacle. I just don't think that he was ever going to be anywhere near as influential as Hendrix was.

As much as I would like to hear more from various now deceased singers, singer-songwriters, bands, groups, composers etc who were all very great and wonderfully I would like to bring back the following people to ask them not necessarily to perform their hits yet another millionth time.

I agree Jenny...there are so may great artists...so how about we just resolve to go see one more artist while they are still alive? Or perhaps make an old artist young again so n4ew generations could enjoy them, like Tony Bennett or Stevie Wonder. There is such a rich heritage of great music for us to enjoy.
