King of Pop- Michael Jackson
Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse also Whitney Houston
Freddy Mercury he had an awesome voice
Stevie Ray Vaughn...youtube Voodoo Chile and watch his hands. At 36 and sober, he was only just beginning to give us a taste of his best.
With my nic being what it is, of course I'm going to say Stevie Ray Vaughan. The only time I ever cried over a celebrity's passing was when that fucking helicopter took off into the dense Wisconsin fog and piled into that mountainside following SRV's final Alpine Valley show.
That being said, there is no way Jimi Hendrix isn't on the list, and John Bonham too.
Hendrix is probably the one whose loss was the greatest, though. John Lennon was barely even still John Lennon at the time of his passing. He was merely Yoko's plaything at that point, with "Imagine" likely being his last creative hurrah.
Even Bonham's death occurred when Zeppelin was on the downside of their run. Sure, they would have continued on for a decent while longer, but were they ever going to be as majestic again as they were during their peak years? Doubtful.
Jim Morrison? Same deal. Elvis? He had long since ceased to be anything but a bloated caricature of himself.
Hendrix? He still mattered. He seriously mattered. He was still on top of his game. In fact, with the Band of Gypsys, he was finally breaking free of the pop music/circus act shackles he so loathed. There is endless speculation as to where he was headed, musically speaking, but wherever it was, it was going to be typically interesting and wildly influential.
Duane Allman was another hugely important guy who died at the very pinnacle. I just don't think that he was ever going to be anywhere near as influential as Hendrix was.
Freddie Mercury (3 octave voice range)
John Lennon
Bob Marley
Bringing them back, my own eclectic group.
Of all our inventions for mass communication,
pictures still speak the most universally understood language.
Walt Disney Phil Lynott - I want Thin Lizzy touring again
Elvis, Hendrix and Nat King Cole
Freddie Mercury (Greatest Singer/Songwriter/Performer of all time)
Jimi Hendrix (So you could have a concert with Hendrix, Clapton, May and Slash)
As much as I would like to hear more from various now deceased singers, singer-songwriters, bands, groups, composers etc who were all very great and wonderfully I would like to bring back the following people to ask them not necessarily to perform their hits yet another millionth time.
No. I want to ask them questions.
The Grateful Dead- ( because it's ironic )
"Were you actually grateful as you died or did that emotion come afterwards? What sorts of drugs are available in purgatory vs. heaven vs. hell? I'm not assuming I know where you've been, but I do feel that once dead you might have been asking around.. I'll bet you a beer that Meth is mandatory in hell- meth addicts look like demons from beyond the living plane."
The band that played on as the titanic sank.
"Why couldn't you have set a record on to play over the announcement speakers and let the calming effects of music to reach more passengers? Did you realize that you might have played music in a lifeboat and given people both hope and a further means to direct their swimming attempts towards it? "
The singer from INXS
"It certainly Was- wasn't it? I mean you could have hired a pair of hands to help you with that. I know it seems obvious now, but had you ever considered that before you died?"
Bob Marley
"ja mon dontchya know- I mean reeely your records have been spawning like de feesh mon. Dere's more to say from you that people 'ave beeen tinking what dey mean. So what does it supposed to or have you forgot what I'm saying by now dontchya know? (Snaps fingers) Are you weeth- Bob? Mistuh Marley? Oh no- he's so gone even though he's back. Hey did one of you guys in the rigging or sound crew give Bob something to smoke?! You can't give even the prime king of the Rasta musicians the weed they have these days- he'd be totally fried."
Bon Scott Former lead singer of AC/DC.
jim morrison ( the doors )
Etta James and Patsy Cline

Karen Carpenter without question. She was taken too soon but left a beautiful legacy.
Jim Morrison for sure....
For me it would be John Denver...Him and his music brought sanity to my life during a hard time.
it would be Freddie Mercury
Hard to choose... maybe Marvin Gaye?
I agree Jenny...there are so may great artists...so how about we just resolve to go see one more artist while they are still alive? Or perhaps make an old artist young again so n4ew generations could enjoy them, like Tony Bennett or Stevie Wonder. There is such a rich heritage of great music for us to enjoy.
Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa together (pretend their conjoined twins), and they need to interpret the current society through their music.
I'd bring back the Carpenters...Karen died so early...
The Beatles together again Janis and Croce
A certain 'Left-Handed Genius' with a 12 String.
But then there are so many, that have been lost forever.
