Posting photographs you don't own - copyright violation?

Last week another photographer posted a question on Facebook asking if it was okay to pin your own work on Pinterest. I was surprised to see that many of the photographers who commented back admonished those who pin their own work and even cited Pinterest’s suggested rules of etiquette, which apparently discourage self-promotion.

That same day, I participated in a thread on Facebook in which some other photographers were complaining about people posting their work on Facebook pages without the photographers’ permission. They were complaining that their copyrights had been violated and one photographer indicated that she was suing the infringer.

Well, this got me thinking.

This could throw a wrench into Tumblr too. Pinterest is very quickly growing, but are they doing so by clearly violating photographic copyright law?
The same GQP demanding we move on from January 6th, 2021 is still doing audits of the November 3rd, 2020 election.
If they want to protect their work they should embed a copyright into the bottom corner of their photograph and/or post their photos/art on their site so that it cannot be copied and re-pasted. By not doing so on the internet is like posting their social security number and checking account number for all the world to see.

I guess they don't know what the fair use act is then eh? I don't really have a problem if someone wanted to use one of my photos for something just give me the credit for the work that being said not to hard as Artman said to put your name on the photo either I don't myself part cause I'm just lazy that way lol

I think its fine to promote your own work but I also think others should respect your wishes if you ask for the picture not to be redistributed.
