Good afternoon! Bit cloudy and cool here. Picked up plants for the deck boxes and new patio umbrella (old one is faded and in kind of rough shape). Working on my ongoing project of weaning myself off of Microsoft so I spent a good chunk of today messing around in Linux. No writing but my comp entry is looking pretty good so probably one more read through and then I'll hit Submit. Or not. Maybe I'll hate it.

Why it's the Victoria Day weekend, of course.

Why?

Well, it's because, uh…well, you see it's like this … um, well, uh – go ask your mother.

Actually, it's unofficially called the May 2-4 weekend, partly because it's often near the 24th of May, and partly because it's the weekend when Canadian city-dwellers often head up north to open the cottage for the Summer.

So, why the 2-4 designation? Because they need to take some 24-packs of beer, that's why!

Aren't you glad you asked?

Welcome back to Kimmi! If you happen to find some stray bits of white fur, then I assure you it was, um…Lion that's the cause! After all, Ape's fur is black, isn't it?

Indeed, it was. She was queen at Confederation in 1867 so we supposedly celebrate our ties to the monarchy on (well, close to) her birthday. But, as James explained, it has basically turned into the first big party weekend of summer. And gardening. The risk of frost drops by late May so it is the traditional weekend to start planting annuals.

Good morning. No big plans here. Need to give the lawn a cut and my wife if planting our deck boxes. That's about it.
