I was wondering about that. Outside of the forums, it would be nice is there was an ‘authors portal’ where they posted various announcements.

Granted, working with digital product developers as part of my day job, I could go down a rabbit hole when it comes to site “enhancements”. And that applies to every single website I stumble across. lol

I have three. I'm off this week but working Dec. 29-31. But then I have to take like another full week in the new year to bring my vacation carryover down. So probably in Jan. or Feb.

It's Moan-Day but probably a short week for most people, so not too moaning this morning!

Christmas on Thurday, Boxing Day on Friday, and I believe today is the last day of Hanukkah, and the beginning of Kwanzaa on the 26th, so lots going on.

Me, I was born into a family of Devout Atheists, became a Lapsed Atheist in university, and finally a Christian in my 40s.

But, TBH, I'll join in any celebration of the Light. It may be a Christian heresy, but I believe it's all one God, not matter what it says on the packaging.

I stole a lapel pin from my son that says, "I may be straight, but I'm not narrow."

The Light is on, Lady Dryad has cleaned up and it's holiday season!

Thanks, Lion, for getting the coffee going. I'll add some stuff, and we'll be ready to rumble.

Tea Kettle is refilled and ready. There are pots of Yorkshire and English Breakfast teas available on the sideboard, plus all the other fine teas in the box. Sachets of Swiss Miss are available, along with the usual mound of mini marshmallows.

I've put out Christmasy donuts, plus our regular supplier, hoping for some tips, I suspect, gave us this dopey looking Christmasy cake, so – anybody wanna piece? Either of the cake, or our supplier? She's not bad looking, so…

Guests departing today, so Jay and I will quietly collapse. Or perhaps NOT so quietly.

26 years in a salaried management role with the same company has left me with a scary mount of vacation time. It's also a company that actually gives a sh*t about its employees (privately held, family-owned), which helps. But I was actually the same on my last position (public sector, not officially unionized but the board matched what was in the local government's union agreement more or less) and gave up three weeks when I left to take this position. I know I'm a bit privileged having a professional master's degree (library and information science, which has a strong management component) that opens doors to these kinds of positions.

Hm. So kind of the reverse of me. Born into a fairly staunch, if liberal, United Church of Canada household with a grandfather in the ministry, lapsed in university (to agnosticism moreso than atheism), became UU for over a decade and then unchurched. And, of course, the meaning of Christmas changed as my spiritual outlook did.

I'll have a piece of the cake with some English Breakfast tea.

And I pulled the trigger on my gay story. I am worried that if I leave until after the holidays, I'll either forget it exists or change my currently quite positive feelings about it. If it doesn't make it up by the holidays, no worries. I just wanted it out there rather than calling out to me to make more edits and changes.

We had a wonderful family cruise. So many fabulous moments! I will treasure that time forever.

I'm back on dry land and still have my son's family with us until tomorrow morning.

Our son was already a teen when we started cruising so we never did the Disney cruises. Maybe with grandkids. Nice to see you back and that you had a good time.

Having our own cabin made it possible to have “private parts” on the cruise. But those scenes will end up in a story somewhere down the line. Lol.

The family fun was wonderful on the cruise. Our son’s family opted for staying two nights with us before they go home. (one down, one to go). But the littles are a lot. Waiting for it to warm up a bit so we can go down and have a beach day. Hard to get into trouble with sand toys. My heart is full. (but so are my hands. Haha).

I know the breakfast time has come and gone, but a hot mug of English Breakfast tea sounds wonderful right now!

All of this talk about religion and PTO and cruises… So much I’d love to add. But alas, I do not have time today. With most of my co-workers already done for the year, you would think it’d be quiet in the office today. Unfortunately, no.

I just have to get through today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. Then I am done working for the year. The holidays are going to be quiet for us this year, and I am looking forward to it!

In case you weren't already aware of it, LYF, Rachel bats for the other side, so I doubt the "package" you have to offer would a-peel.

In our local news everything and everyone is a buzz with the breaking news that our Kansas City Chiefs are moving across the state border into Kansas City Kansas. The new stadium (with dome) is projected to top 4 billion $$ yes that's with a CAPITAL B, schedule to open in 2031 season.

Much finger pointing and talking is just starting both aye and nay all this shall be great "armchair quarterback" with our long time avid fan base.

Merry Christmas Eve Eve.

My plans are changing. Son was in hospital with Flu A. He’s recovering at his dad’s house. I’m not seeing him right now because my sis/hubby leaving town and I’m on dad duty and can’t risk giving him the flu. I’ll celebrate Christmas with my son soon, hopefully. The hospital gave him a super anti-viral pill and heavy dose of steroids to get him better faster. He was already a little better yesterday.

I’m still grateful! Christmas is a season to me, not a day.
