Lights on, Lady Dryad has cleaned up and we’re ready to go.

Tea Kettle is refilled and ready. There are pots of Yorkshire and Assam teas available on the sideboard, plus all the other fine teas in the box. Sachets of Swiss Miss are available, along with the usual mound of mini marshmallows.

Big Bertha has been cleaned, rinsed, and refilled, and is now perkin' away.

Let's see if we can find some frou-frou coffee for Lion and Lioness, shall we?

Nah – let's just go with a good ol' cuppa Joe for today!

LOL, so much for a nice long weekend here. Now there's showers with a risk of thunderstorms all day today, then a chance of showers tomorrow and Monday. Just yesterday the weekend was looking promising save Monday.

Anyhow, that doesn't change the fact that I get an extra day off work this weekend. Shopping, housework and probably writing will happen. There's yardwork, too, but that's weather dependent and see above.

My contribution to the tuneage is the band Blue Medusa. One of several projects for Canadian death metal singer Alissa White-Gluz since she had a falling out with Swedish band Arch Enemy last year, Blue Medusa sees her teaming with guitarists Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia.

Yes, the band name likely alludes to Alissa's penchant for dyeing her long hair shades of blue.

Nice to know that our Leonine friend knows the two most important words of a long-term relationship: Yes, dear.

We had French Toast ("pain perdu" en français) yesterday when everyone came back to our place for breakfast.

And I add a little vanilla to the mix. It gives it a much richer flavour!

Of course we use Canadian maple syrup. About 70% of the world's maple syrup comes from Québèc, and it's GOOOD!

We get ours locally, from a Mennonite family.

And, of course, maple syrup can make LOTS of things taste even better…

My parents used to buy a litre or two on the Kitchener Farmer's Market every spring. High probability it was from Mennonites but not sure. We used to get a litre from our former neighbour. His family had farmland with a sugar bush on it. That ended as his health deteriorated and they moved to a retirement home more than a year ago. Both have dementia and the home puts them close to one of their kids.

Hi y'all, hope everyone's having/had a good weekend; its an extra long one in sunny Canada. Got the garden all planted including KIWI which apparently you can grow up here. Now I'm half done ripping out my front flower bed which actually had no flowers just colourful bushes 😋 and dwarf trees. Or "sprite trees" as I refer to them. Hopefully I get the rest of the bed ripped out and everything planted tomorrow.

I'd like a mint julep and some bandages for my hands which are all cut up from hacking at the garden.

Summer must be here, I have a sunburn.

Theoretically, it's a celebration of Queen Victoria's birthday, but in truth it's the unofficial start of Canadian Summer.

It's more informal name is the 2-4 weekend, because people take cases of beer up to their cottages – 24 in a case, bottles or cans.

So take your pick: the recognition of an august personage, or the beginning of summer!

We got annuals in yesterday and I cleaned the garage. Today I clean the car interiors and mow the lawn. Between being away for half of April, being sick when I got back, and the rather cool start to the season, I am kind of packing all my Spring chores into the long weekend.

Supposed to hit 30C here today and tomorrow, then back to cool stuff. Kind of muggy, too. I tested out the AC yesterday and it worked so I guess we are ready.

Congrats, David, on being a grandad to twin boys! How exciting!

I’m gonna be a kinda grandma to baby birds. A mama decided my front door was a good place to bring littlies into the world. And… I’m contributing poof balls of Butter’s shed fur. 🤣 I set ball of fur outside nest and in morning she’s woven it in nest. ❤️
