And that woman I keep raving about has been at it again. After cancelling a signing session pleading unwellness, Floor Jansen came back in the evening and blew them away. This song was written by Floor during her tenure in the Dutch band After Forever and has been a staple in her solo sets since she started doing solo shows in 2019. This was Floor's first show with a new bassist/backing vocalist after her usual bassist went on a mat leave (she was very obviously pregnant right from the start of their concert season so we knew it was coming).

Hey hey hey, it's another morning! Not sure which one just now. Vacation does that to you.

Bertha is all ready with some Hasbeans Dark Roast Colombian. Teapots are filled with Earl Grey and Scottish Breakfast with other fine teas available over by the kettle. And we're a bar, so there's plenty else here to drink. Whatcha want?

Morning tuneage, guaranteed to wake you up. Can con approved and as heavy as this band ever gets.

And for those heading to work, here's Guess Who guitarist and his buddy Fred Turner, aka Bachman Turner Overdrive, with their classic "Takin' Care of Business"

And da Bear is BACK!

Well, half of me is front, but still…

I have returned!

No deposit. Shucks.

But caffeine shall flow!

There's Lumberjack coffee blend for those who wanna get jacked – or jacked off.

Teas are Yorkshire and Assam, plus all the others, as usual, and Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix.

Donuts, of course, and Bear Claws!

Been a time since we had those.

Nice to see that Lion has been spinning tunes in my absence, with more than able supplementation by Ape.

And since it seems to be animals making da music, let's offer something appropriate!

An incredibly talented, but exceptionally modest Polar Bear, often mischievous, but never malicious!

Hello there, Bear. Hope you had a good trip. Your fur is still white so I guess the smoke wasn't too bad. 😊

Kind of cool in my neck of the woods today, by July standards at least. I kind of welcome it as someone not fond of the heat, but 20C is a throwback to Spring. So a nice, warm cup of Assam tea would be welcome along with a bear claw (the pastry kind, not yours).

Debating my comp entry and might try something else. I am kind of stuck on an ending as, as I commented elsewhere, it's kind of a by the numbers first time piece. Kind of sweet and romantic with a bit of character development (hey, it's 5000 words including sex, there's only so much character development one can do). I just find those don't fly here. Needs a raunchier scenario or a twist of some kind. I'll see. I don't return to work until Monday so I've got some time still.

Music? Hmmmm. How about some thrash jazz? Yep, pinup model and jazz singer Robyn Adele Anderson with a jazz cover of "Raining Blood" by Slayer. She even ties it to the recent chaotic atmospheric conditions where she lives (East Coast US).

And I learned this morning that Jess Holland, lead singer of neo-prog band Solstice since 2020, is leaving after the end of their current run of shows to pursue teaching and other activities. I think she's recorded vocals for their next album, too. I shall miss Jess. Her voice is part of what drew me to the band a couple years ago. They have two capable backup singers, either of whom could step forward to take the role or maybe they'll look abroad. Founder Andy Glass (guitar) is pretty well-connected in the music business so might have some options. That's how he got Jess.
