This is from an article in the St. Petersburg, FL Times newspaper on Sunday.

The Business Section asked readers for ideas on "How Would You Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President:

Please find below my suggestion for fixing America's economy.

Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.

You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force.

Pay them $1 million a piece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings -
Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new American CAR. Forty million cars ordered-
Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage-
Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!

If more money is needed, have all members of Congress and their constituents pay their taxes...

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

If not, please disregard. Then shoot yourself!!!! 1 job opening.

To me the President of the United States should be the only person in the United States to get paid a $1,000,000. Everybody else can F**KING survive on less. Really.

SOB....I still have 8 yrs to work to get my retirement $$$ Million.

DAMN...Ford's it for American Car...Kidding. Next car I get will be a Ford.

F**K...If I payoff my mortgage, I pay more taxes. Who the HELL!!! says I want to pay for those asses in Washington to have it better than me.

And he forgot one little thing...What about the Illegals in this country now. My suggestion is bring our military boys and girls home out of the other DAMN countries and protect our interests here at home.

And if you are all wondering before you jump my ass. I did my time in the USMC and I'm DAMN F**KING!!! Proud to be an AMERICAN!!! All we need to do is fix Washington and this Country will do more to Help the other countries.

I do see a problem. A LOT of the experience, know-how, and capital is within that 50+ demographic. So it might kill production in the economy if you removed all that which can't be replaced easily. Sure, you can read a textbook or manual, but how do you replace 30 years of hands on experience?

I just think this plan would leave a slow and steep learning curve for the economies new-look work force.
