Is everyone as excited for St Patrick's day as I am?

Ive bought my outfit, got the hat and hairspray, got the pink and green makeup with my fluro tights! Im wishing the days away so that I can walk down the street like a mental person but have a good reason for it!

Did you know, there are approximately 20 million Irish passport holders in the world, yet only around 4.5 million people living there.

Here's a list of famous Irish people:

One of my best friends in the world is Irish, we share a love of this:

This Guinness advert was a massive success and ran for years. It's a shame the guy who did it was happy with a small flat fee, rather than working on a fee plus royalties - he would have made probably 100 times as much. The last I heard, he was living in Dublin in a 1 bedroom bedsit, I hope his luck has changed:

Nicola, this was a great commercial......however in the UK you are not allowed to blatantly advertise anymore, E.G you cant just stick
a guiness in front of the camera and run it for 2 mins or however long, they changed the law?? which is beyond me because a commercial is a commercial
regardless of what your selling.
I'm also Irish lol.
It's a little bizarre how advertising has changed over the last 50 years, it's something I am involved in on a daily basis.

Who would have thought Camel could ever get away with this? "More Doctors Smoke Camels than any other Cigarette."

Back to the Irish! (sorry necho)

So Necho is there going to be any pictures of you dressed up as a leprechaun???

Yes, I'm Irish, for one day out of the year.
Kathy Ireland in a green 'kini.

A great combination for St. Pat's Day.

Charles, you are a man of superb refinement and sublime good taste.

I managed to find a St. Pat's day AV. And while the lady is no Kathy Ire3land, IMHO, she ain't too shabby.

Never celebrated this holiday but hopefully will make some money since everyone will be out partying, I will cross fingers for that.

Why thank-you Nicola. I didn't know I meant that much to you.

hey, it's the ol' hometown. St. Patrick's Day is a huge deal in Chicago...I don't really celebrate it...but I do happen to be Irish-American.

Cheers to all who do, though.

Oh God Bless You Nicola...I Love Guinness myself...as anyone who has read my stories knows...I am not sure what the actual count is, but I started putting Guinness in my fourth story and it is mentioned in my latest "A Family Affair Chapt 2", which should post soon...I hope...
Have to admit, I usually don't celebrate St. Pat's...since my birthday is the day before, but...sometimes...
Any day is a good day for a Guinness, btw...
Later,
Alan.

I'm a huge Guinness Stout fan, but at $9 a six-pack, they're few and far between. I would've made those commercials for a years supply of it
I will be flying a balloon at the 26th Annual St. Patrick's Day Balloon Rallye this weekend. It don't get no better than that. I will also be drinking my very own Robust Porter that I homebrewed my very own self.

I've brewed a couple copycat Guinness recipes, but I don't use the nitrogen to get the foamy head. My beer carbonates naturally.

I'll say what I always say around St. Patrick's Day:

"I'd rather be lucky than Irish."

It's just a joke, just a joke.

This batch is really close to a Guinness Clone. I upped the roasted barley and it came out very dark with nice coffee and chocolate notes in the finish. Guinness uses some sour mash which I did not but mine also has a nice alcohol bite to it. No nitrogen for me either. Just bottle conditioning. I'm not into kegging yet. I have about 80 bottles of the porter ready so my Irish for a Day friends should be happy.

I knew there was something else I liked about you, other than your stories. Home brewer since 1998.

I've only been brewing for a year and a half and really enjoy it. I am pretty active on Homebrewtalk.com as Airrageous. My best brew to date is a Green Chile beer. The base beer is a Centennial Blonde Ale with roasted whole green chiles in the secondary for two weeks. I have converted several non-beer drinkers with that one.

A porter sure does sound good about now. I was in the Morebeer forum for a while, but dropped out. It's nice to see other homebrewers on here.

Do the chiles replace the hops in your recipe?

I am so glad many of you non-Irish (is that a word?? lol) take one day a year to call yourself Irish!

On behalf of the many who have freckles, reddish hair and green/hazel eyes .... Cheers!

No, I brew a base beer of Centennial Blonde Ale. It is lightly hopped with Centennial and Cascade hops. Then whole roasted green chiles are added to the secondary fermenter after about one week. They sit there for two weeks then I bottle. Bottle condition for 3 weeks.

The Porter was a big hit at our St. Patrick's Day Balloon Rallye. The green chile beer was also a big hit (I had to have something with Green at least in the name).
