What do you call it... soda, pop, coke or something different

I call it soda, and then use the brand name for the drink type

WAY back when living in the Boston area it was tonic. I asked for a tonic when we moved away. They had no idea what I meant.

I grew up with everyone call it pop, although I much prefer the words soda or fizz. I knew someone from Maine once who made fun of me for calling it pop. He said I sounded like a hillbilly.

Growing up in the Boston area we called it tonic. When we moved and asking for a tonic they had no idea what I was talking about.

It is Soda - says so on the aisle signs in the grocery store and on the Sprite label for example. However the further West you go in my state somehow people refer to it as "pop"
