Does anyone else go through writing phases?

Where at one point, you don't want to write at all, and you don't have the urge to write at all.

And than other times, every-time you turn around you are writing again?
I've done that before. Right now I'm going through the writing phase. I just recently finished a story and now I'm starting on a new one. I also have like 4 plots lined up after this one, so this may get interesting.

I write more stories during times when I read other's stories a lot and chat a lot. In the early days of my writing, I spent a lot of time reading and chatting...I wrote 41 stories in three months...pretty much a story every other day.
Lately, I have not had the time to read/chat as much, so I don't get the ideas...plus, I am working on a novel, so I am not thinking about short story ideas.
But yes, I have gone through periods where I had so many ideas I was literally giving them away...though, I did write a lot of them up...

Yes. I'm currently in a phase where I have a number of unfinished stories.

I only write when I'm inspired.

I try not to force the writing when I'm not feeling it... every time I do, I find that my writing is subpar.

I don't mind taking mini-breaks in between stories.

I think it's good to clear the mind before starting something fresh.

I know many people write multiple stories at one time. I've only ever concentrated on one at a time. I admire those that can successfully juggle ideas. I hope to find the skill level to be able to do that sometime.
I went 8 months without writing once. I was a bit depressed and had the biggest period of writer's block ever. I try not to push it either. If I want to write, I will write even if it is a paragraph. I don't have to publish a story every day or even every week. I'd rather take my time and make sure the quality is good.
I find for myself, spending more time on a story does not necessarily guarantee it will be of higher quality...and depression can be good for poems...
I wrote a lot of poems late last year...I have a tough time around the holidays since my fiance died in 2006...but, it's different for everybody...
Just saying...

I know, I could just churn out crap, the same phrases and appeal to the masses but I am my worst critic (smiles)...I want my stories to be good. I was depressed to the point of not being able to feel any strong emotion. So no good for poetry...Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Absolutely. I am currently in a non-writing phase. I have been swamped at work and I don't have time to write, or even think, erotica.
I do that all of the time. Right now, I have several stories in mind to write and am taking notes on the ones I want to try to post before this year is out. Maybe I'm a perfectionist when it comes to writing, but I like to take my time writing them. Now that my schedule consists of 8 am classes, I probably won't have the time to write like I used to.
