The death of the best magazine published. Sad.

The market for paper publishing continues to shrink.

As it should. Save the rain forest, and all that. Paper is one of the biggest consumers of trees and much of that goes to newsprint and junk mail. Now we can get the news electronically, the format is not only obsolete, but needlessly destructive.

Don't believe everything that you read.

Journalism in general was in it’s death throes when billionaires started owning 90% of the news media. Government owns about 6% of it. That leaves only 4% that isn’t state censored or run by the big 6 corporations.

Even among that small chunk, lots is terrible journalism. Conspiracy theories, lack of citation, poor to no fact checking, ect…

Social media with first hand accounts seem to be the purest form of news anymore, and of course you need to watch those for simply lying for attention.

If I thought it would make a particular difference I would. But for a few specific people on this forum, I really don’t care what you believe. Minds made of rock who won’t take in new data and evolve aren’t worth my time.

Most people are capable of a simple google search, if I believe what I’m saying requires more backup I’ll put it down. If someone who isn’t those select people ask for a source I’ll help.

Try NEWS reporting organizations that are not American.

Here are two examples: BBC World News, Aljazeera

With links to your sources, and that aren't owned by American or even Western billionaires. smile

But print journalism has gone. sad

Newspapers and magazines that are now owned by billionaires:

  • The Washington Post; owned by Jeff Bezos

  • The Boston Globe; owned by John Henry

  • The Star Tribune; owned by Glen Taylor

  • Los Angeles Times; owned by Patrick Soon-Shiong

  • Time; owned by Marc Benioff

  • The Atlantic; owned by Laurene Powell Jobs

  • Fortune; owned by Chatchaval Jiaravanon

  • Murdoch family media empire includes: cable TV channel Fox News (not a print source, but still notable), and newspapers The Times of London, The Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post

Mind you, these aren't all of them, just the major ones. There are many others, proving in large that the majority of major print news media is indeed owned by billionaires.

Source found here. I found this all by typing the following into Google: print journalism owned by multi billionaires.

Please stop wasting people's time with demanding easily accessible sources to widely known information in order to sidestep engaging with information that challenges your views. It’s a shit tactic. Thanks.

While I continue to prefer reading books all else comes from the ethernet. Easy to access from almost anywhere. I think the physical newspaper has seen its day. Truly a shame because it at one time created some of the most thoughtful and creative writers of our time.
