Not always. I do take account of who is running locally and review platforms. It is a fairly safe bet that I won't vote for our (I am in Canada) Conservative party or People's Party (a far right party that splintered off from the Conservatives) but beyond that, I still have at least three options to pick from. Again this is Canada where we have more than two parties capable of landing seats in our Parliament.
