All of the stuff so far is just memories of what my kids and grand kids did. I am an old fart and can remember a lot different.
I remember when...
I went to a one room schoolhouse. 1952 in Summerfield, Oklahoma when I stayed with my grandfather.
Listening to the radio was all there was and being scared shitless with one program, "Inner Sanctum". I can still hear that creaking door and the narrators gravelly voice.
We got our first TV. 1948 in Grand Island, New York. We could get one station out of Buffalo and then another from Canada after my dad put a special antenna in the attic.
Gasoline cost $ 0.05, that's right, 5 cents a gallon. I remember it going down to 3 cents during a "gas-war".
Looking out from The Cave Of The Winds through Niagara Falls and Prospect Point hadn't yet fallen into the fiver.
Our first telephone was a party line. That was fun and a huge pain in the ass at the same time.
Our first private line in 1952 on Grand Island and the number was BR3063. Bridge was the exchange for the whole island.
Squirrel hunting and being able to run FO miles, chasing an injured one because you do not leave them like that. Then frying them and having a wonderful time.
Drinking Sassafras tea after boiling the roots I'd dug.
**********
Yeah, I remember a lot but it's all different now. Not better or worse necessarily, different. Different times and different cultures that evolved.
I remember when you could get 5 Arby's roast beef for $5, gas was less than a dollar, and you had to use an encyclopedia.
I remember when.....
I started getting hair down you know were lol ;)
I remember when "social media" consisted of a pen and a piece of paper!
I remember when petrol was 4/6 a gallon............. 25.5p a GALLON!!! (wages were around £10 a week)
I remember when a man/woman's word was their bond.
I had crushes on boys and never told them...
And then died of embarassment when my friends teased me in front of them..
About how much I liked them..
I remember when girls wore skirts ad dresses to school and boys wore slacks, and nobody wore blue jeans
I remember "three-on-the-tree" and no first gear syncros
. . .Power Rangers was cool
We used pay phones to make phone calls and when it went up from a dime to a quarter per call...
I remember when there was one phone number per household, now it's one phone number per person in the household.
A long day at work followed by university class on way home, I stopped at a local bar for a drink.
Walking in, I noticed a woman sitting at the bar from a class I had a different night. I sat down at
The bar next to her as we did get along in class.
After some fun talk and a couple drinks, she leaned closer and whispered in my ear
"I would love to suck your cock." Thats how I would finish the sentence.
I remember when Diane whispered in my ear that she wanted to suck my cock.
We left the bar and went out to my car where she gave me the best blow job, deep throat included!!
I remember party lines on telephones!
I remember the first time I had sex with my now wife of 40+ yrs. It was pure raw sex. We screwed our brains out. A few months later she said "I think I'm falling in love with you" I knew I was a goner.
...people used to actually call instead of texting.
I remember when not many people had telephones.
The Party Lines mentioned by LKK weren't accidental. It was when more people started to get telephones and there weren't enough lines to go round. Two different houses would share the same line and number. If the wrong person picked it up, you asked for the other and they would put it down again.
I remember when the Parrot on Nelson's shoulder ..was just an egg.
My Karma just ran over your Dogma
gas was 89 cents a gallon
I remember when...a sport was a sport. And groovin was groovin. dancing meant everything.
We were young and we were improving!
The Olympics were for amateur sports
