How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
If a woodchuck could chuck wood?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could,
And chuck as much wood as a woodchuck would
If a woodchuck could chuck wood
And this one:
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
How man pickled peppers would Peter Piper pick?
My all-time favourite is The Guinness Book of World Records 'toughest tongue twister':
The sixth sick sheik's sixth sheep's sick
Do you know any others?
Better yet, can you create one yourself?
Here are a few tips:
1. Use Alliteration - words that start with the same consonant sound eg. Peter Piper Picked...
2. Use Consonance - phrases that use words that repeat the same consonant sound within the word eg. Pitter Patter...
3. Use Assonance - phrases that use words that repeat similar vowel sounds eg. Shelley Sells Sea Shells...
4. Play with Consonance - use word combinations that sound similar eg. Irish Wristwatch
5. Play with Syllable Sounds - reverse syllable sounds in words of phrases eg. Sea Shells vs She Sells
6. Play with Consonants - use consonants that sound similar like 's' 'f' 'th' or 'ck' 'x' 'th' eg. Theophilus Thistle, the thistle sifter, sifted a sieve of unsifted thistles
7. Tell a fun story with your tongue twister - the dirtier, the better
Give It A Go! Best of Luck!
