As a story moderator here on Lush I sometimes come across submissions that show symptoms of dyslexia in the writing. Many people go undiagnosed throughout their lives. If you know that you are dyslexic, you can learn to deal with it and it will make writing and reading much easier and therefore much more fun.
I am dyslexic. You may catch a few mistaken words on my Forum posts. Especially if I am in a hurry and don't closely proof read what I type. I do thoroughly proofread my stories.
Do you ever mistakenly type the wrong version of words?
peek - peak
your - you're
to - two - too
plain - plane
dear - deer
write - right
...and other homonyms. You know the difference in these words, but still write or type them wrong.
Do you confuse letters? p - p - d and such. a - o - e are very confusing.
Do you transpose words or sentences are confusing because the words make no sense to you, though they do to everyone else?
Do you transpose letters?
Does text sometimes just look like confusing jargon?
If so, you may be dyslexic.
There are a couple of other Lush story mods besides me that are dyslexic. Some people have it more severely than others.
It can be dealt with and you can thrive as an author and a reader, if you know you have it. So if you suspect you do, please look into it. You'll really be glad you got that figured out and learn to deal with it. Doing so might even help you advance in your career or job.
Did you know that certain typefonts and type in certain colors can make it more difficult for dyslexics to read? I personally seriously struggle with blue or green type.
Did you know that dyslexia is often found in creative people?
I posted this because several folks might find this information useful and if they discover they have dyslexia, learn how to make their life better.
