help with Microsoft word

so, i write stories - that doesn't mean i'm brilliant. i know there is a way to change the setting so that it only makes single spaces between periods, right? i have no idea how to do technical stuff... i would appreciate any help i can get on the subject (as would my editor )

Depends on what version of'Word' you're using. However, try getting to 'settings' and then noodle around.

I didn't do anything that Google couldn't. Here's the step-by-step for future reference...or for those not as brave as you.

1. Click on File and then Options.
2. In the Options window, choose the Proofing tab.
3. Under "When correcting spelling and grammar in Word," click the Settings button.
4. Under Require, select "1" for "Spaces required between sentences, then click OK.
5. Click OK to exit the Options.


EDIT: This is for MS Word 2010...works for the starter version, as well.

BTW, not sure if this still works, but re-saving an existing doc 'should' re-format it it to one space after periods, sentence wise, that is. It might require manually changing a double-space tosingle but the resave should then change them all
