This may have been posted before but it bears repeating:

And, of course, the use of "lie" (lie, lied, lying, lied) for "speaking an untruth" complicates things further. 🙄 Gotta love English.

Who woulda thunk that a simple grammar lesson would lead to such an entertaining thread? And I am not laying. I mean lying.😊 Though I am not currently laying either.

Some of us have such a strong tradition of getting it wrong that it just plain sounds weird when it's right.
