Hello Writers

I'm new to the site, but not a new erotica writer. I'll admit that I'm an attention whore and love the votes / comments. My story was posted way down on the bottom and it seems to have now been lost into the void. Any thoughts on how to call some attention to it?

Also, I'd love to make some friends, but am not sure the chat rooms are for me. I'm a guy and wondering if it's just easier for girls. Any thoughts on how to do that? perhaps getting involved in the forums are a good way.

and - not to push my luck with a billion questions - but my stories get sort of in depth. I've seen many that get straight to the sex. Does that mean people won't like my writing here?

any thoughts, comments or just a "hello" would be appreciated. I'm afraid I'm a little needy and don't like to be alone Embarassed

Unfortunately, due to the volume of stories that get submitted, your stories will only ever get a day or maybe two on the home page. That's just the way the site works.

The best way to get more hits on your stories is to talk to people about them. Add friends and invite them to have a read. The more friends you have, and the more authors you follow, the more are likely to follow you in return.

Posting on the forum is a great way to make yourself visible on the site and get interest from people in your stories.

While a lot of stories on the site jump straight to the sex and skip all that dull character building and scene setting, you'll find the ones that end up the most popular and stand the test of time, (seriously filthy aside) are the ones that are well written and have, yes, depth. Or at least that's my opinion.

You'll find there are a lot of people here on lush, all with different tastes. You will find fans easily enough smile

Mo had some good suggestions. You can also include a link to your story in your forum signature, or comment on other people's work and invite them to do the same for you.

I was going to suggest this myself. You can add 10 lines to your forum signature - so you can add 10 links to your stories or as I, and others have done, a little banner.

If you do decide to try the chat rooms - and I would suggest that you should, as there are some very nice people who visit them - I would advise that you do not mention your stories. It is considered a big no-no - with the members and moderators.

Making friends in the forums is harder, but if you become a regular, get to know the members and reply to their post - add them and then you can start conversations with them via pm.

As for your stories - I have not read them yet Embarassed

- but I would not change a thing. Your writing is part of you and tells us who you are. We can't all have straight-to-the-point-sex stories as it would be rather boring. We appreciate all types of styles - even mine lol.

Chatrooms are a good way to gain publicity! Even if you do not talk, just stay one or two readerholic will come by.
