Is anyone else using ProWritingAid when editing their stories? The extension is starting to annoy me. On top of not being clear with what they want you to change, they only give you 2 free credits a day per category. And I would pay the $10/month for a subscription, but I don't have much money

Never even heard of it. I don't use any aids other than my word processor's native grammar and spell-checking. And even those I don't rely on. They help, but they also miss a lot of crap. And nothing can help your imagination. Even AI requires some imagination to come up with the prompt.

Am I overthinking this, then? I'm trying to avoid having to resubmit my story. Last time I had to (for a different story) because I kept mixing up past/present tense, but I think I've got that under control now

Writing is something I have always been good at (lots of As on my essays and papers in school and that sort of thing) and am a bit of a perfectionist about (I nitpick my stories to death during editing). But not everyone is me. If you find a tool helps, then look into them. Probably find reviews, preferably by writers, to see what is good. Word processors don't really check for issues like you describe (and don't worry, I have made that mistake a couple times, too, as well as switching person from 1st to 3rd mid-story at least once) so a tool that does could be helpful. I would just rather keep my instincts and abilities honed by doing it myself.

I don't use ProWritingAid. I tend to use either Grammarly or Quillbot to help me with punctuation and verb tense issues. (I ignore pretty much every other suggestion).

I used to teach English, but even I need a little help with proofreading now and then. 😎

I'll Be Home For Christmas - Holly spends Advent preparing for Nick's return.

The free Word add-on was quite nice for a while, but they have removed almost all of its features and made them paid. Additionally, for some reason, it does not recognize the tense in which you are writing.

Grammarly still works for me.
