Syllabus for a self-directed MA in Creative Writing 2019
"Most of the great writers we read had no MAs, but very different qualifications: life experience, yearning, a typewriter, a well-read library. Their writing courses were self-assembled."

Of the four books he talks about, I know the LeGuin and the King. Don't really even know the other two authors. I should give LeGuin's a try. She's arguably one of the best writers of the latter half of the 20th century and probably one of the top ten or so in sf and fantasy.
A birthday gift of a different sort. From the 2024 Dirty Talk contest.

Learned more about writing here than I did in a semester of an MFA program (before I switched to a more practical degree). MFA is good for shredding your ego. That's about it.
It's a DIY course. It's not intended to replace an MFA programme, but it includes readings and activities for anyone who wants to develop knowledge and skills of the craft of writing.
