Hi,

I have a question concerning how to make sure stories are linked in the proper order. On my stories it has the older stories as listed to continue reading and the new stories are listed as read again. How do I fix this so it is in the right order. Any help or info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

The link you can control when you submit a story is the "next" story.

So let's say you have:
Smut part 1
Smut part 2
Smut part 3

When you submit part 1, part 2 presumably doesn't exist yet. So you wouldn't link part 1 to anything.

When you submit part 2, you could link it to part 1.

But what would be more important would be to go back to part 1, and link it to part 2, so that everything is neat and tidy.

And then when part 3 exists, you'd presumably go back to part 2 and change its link from linking to part 1 and make it link to part 3.

[edit: and changing a story's link, if that's the only change you make, doesn't seem to need mod re-approval, so you wouldn't be taking the story offline while you wait for that change to be approved.]

Just a small aside here. Making changes that require reapproval to an already published story doesn't take it offline. The first approved version will still show up until the edited version is approved, at which point the original is replaced.

Thanks for educating noob. I have been wandering how this was working.

That's great to know! And a smart way of doing things. I assumed that when I had a story in temporary limbo for edits, that it was unavailable, because of the "not verified" notation on the my stories list.

Are there other changes don't require reapproval at all, such as the link change?

My guess is that any change that doesn't change a "character" in the text box of the edit story window can go through automatically, but that's just a guess. So changing the tags, or category, or link, or tagline, would be ok, but not real changes in the body of the story itself?

thanks!
Well I went back fixed my links, but I added a image to one story and it had to be approved by a moderator. So I would think anything more involved then the link changes would require a moderator's approval.

Thanks again for the help.

You are correct. Even title and tag changes require approval. Since links are to already approved stories, those can be done without a mod check.

cool. then you won't mind me following you about to look at yours. ;)

This doesn't seem to be right. I just found a typo in my most recent story, and so fixed it and sent in for reapproval.

Then I went to the site as a guest, and looked for my profile. The story doesn't appear there right now. I pasted the URL of the story into my address bar, and I got the "sad couple - 404 error message" page.

Perhaps only those with moderating privileges get to see the last approved version online while a story is back in the queue?

[edit. I know *I* can see the queued story if I'm logged in, but with the "has been sent to moderator for approval message. I think anyone else would get an error message even if they had the url. If they didn't, the story would not be findable.]

Well, shit bunnies. Fucked that one up.

It is entirely possible that only moderators can see the story if it's been sent for reapproval. My silly head didn't even consider that. Sorry, OR. My very embarrassed bad.
