Holiday Hijinks Competition To welcome in the holiday season, we are running a competition themed with light-hearted fun in mind.Hijinks are examples of mischief or merrymaking that are often disruptive or rowdy. They are activities that are fun: getting into trouble, but not serious trouble. Phrases often associated with hijinks, are: high energy, wildness, carefree antics, uninhibited mischief, unrestrained fun. Competition Theme Stories should contain some element relating to the Xmas / New Year holidays.Perhaps an Office Xmas party gets a bit out of hand for several (or more) of the staff? A booked last minute ski resort wasn't exactly what a straight-laced couple had envisaged, when they discover it's a resort for swingers... A husband gets a few wishes on his Xmas sexual wishlist fulfilled? 2 strangers wake up naked and worse for wear on New Year's Day, wondering how they ended up in a locked Department store... We are looking for short, punchy, entertaining stories. As such, the word limit is a scroogelike 2000 words for this competition.Winner: $150 Second Place: $100 Third Place: $50 Full details can be found here. https://www.lushstories.com/images/comps/champagne.png
Thanks Oceanrunner. There are no pop up ads on the www version of LS, other than one asking if you'd like to join. Unless someone clicks on ads, that's it. The mobile site is a little "different", as we have less control on that platform.I'm hesitant to restrict the Bronze Trial Memberships, for reasons you mention. I've reported the person to half a dozen site / program owners today. They are spamming an ad network, trying to get the odd cent here and there, for a few clicks. Pretty sad / pathetic state of affairs really.
Thank you for the suggestions. We don't use the forum software for our signup process, it's custom.Gav has a long to-do list. It all helps to make the site more spam proof at the end of the day. We'll probably do away with the trial bronze memberships. That will stop spammers in their tracks if they can't use any of the site features.
Interesting question Erin. The vast majority of people here, use a pen name, so your case will be no different I'd guess. The fact that you are using your real name elsewhere, has no bearing. You can copyright protect your own name, and any number of unique others.http://m.wikihow.com/Copyright-a-Book-With-a-Pen-Namehttp://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/questions-and-quandaries/legal-questions/can-you-copyright-a-pseudonymI hope that helps.
Might want to add a captcha to the sign up page.By my reckoning you've had over 3000 new fake accounts set up today alone - if they all start spamming at once the server's going to grind to a halt It's been there for a few weeks. Unfortunately, the captcha only halted the spammer briefly. Surprising, considering google designed it.We will be implementing further measures in the coming weeks. This type of thing happens on all large, successful sites, particularly "adult" ones. One I know, with 5 million + members, no longer accepts new members, unless they confirm who they are, via mobile phone verification, or are referred by a friend.Spammers don't care about the inconvenience caused to members of a helpful community like this, set up with the best intentions. They are happy for a few dollars here and there from the sponsors they promote (it's a good idea to report the spammers directly to the sponsor as they are often unaware, allegedly).Like most parasites, they are but a minor irritation. It's just annoying you guys have to endure their spam too. We're always working on ways to eradicate it.

i wish that, when people left, they'd leave their stories. i think it's a shame that he took them all with him. I wonder if it would be an idea, to add a feature, so that when someone leaves, they have the option to leave their stories on the site if they wish, and just their profile gets deleted. Good idea? Those stories would be paired to the email address of the person who submitted them, so should they ever want them removed, we'd have an easy way to verify the person. <img src="/forum/images/emoticons/dontknow.gif" alt="dontknow">
