Topic: Competition Entries should be SOLO efforts
Posted: 18 Feb 2017 03:53

This has arisen, because some authors have started adding things like, "Thanks to PookieBear, for editing my story", to their competition entry.

Competitions are meant to be a challenge to yourself. Not you, a friendly Editor, and your collective network of helpful friends.

I think that's fair enough.

I love your sig Emerson!

Great movie.

I will amend the standard competition rules, but in the interim, I wanted to make our policy very clear on competitions.

We want competition entries to be solo efforts, totally.

That means no proofing, editing, suggestions, or anything from friends.

It creates an unfair advantage if someone edits or proofs your story.

We're intestested in seeing what you have written, warts 'n' all.

Please do not ask assistance from others for your competition entries.

Attenborough is my all-time favorite! I love him so much that ATTENBOROUGH was the name of my fake band in college...which is much more of a compliment than it seems ;)

My mother is reading one of his most recent books at the moment. She says it's a brilliant read (I think it's entitled, "New Life Stories", or it may be his autobiography). I'm going to borrow it once she's finished.

He's perhaps the most accomplished narrator / broadcaster, to have ever graced our screens and airways. Big call I know!

Ooh, I'm Gold but I don't know how to change my forum rank. I'm always the last to know...

Ping me your rank request and it will be fixed up.

You know I deliberately keep it a little obscure so I have to do less admin

Starlings migrate to my neck of the woods this time of year. Watching their flocks undulate across the sky is one of my favorite things to do in the winter. Thanks for sharing

You're welcome!

My parents are up on the coast, and there are literally thousands of geese honking their way back to base each night, flying over their house. It's a spectacle, and they don't half make a wonderful noise. They fly so low, you can hear their (collective) wings flapping.

This one made me laugh. Really well done (helps if you know the politics behind it - that's the Australian PM there, for those who weren't aware):
