Who doesn't like a little attention now and again, although I really don't think that was the point of the post. 
As LadyX mentioned, I do think the question is futile. The horny rabid male friend requesters are not going to answer. They're too busy sending FR. If you find it an issue, make it that only gold members can FR you.

Strangely enough, that's happened more than once and has been an immediate defriending. I prefer my friends to have a maturity level higher than middle school.

I personally find the term degrading, as it means to me a business arrangement not a lovingly one.
