I would give this vision a righteous smooch and respect her wishes past that. I would ask nicely if I could give the pretty lil one above her a nice smooch too..... ;)

..... and perhaps even a little slap on the bum for each

Most nights I try to make it to the top side, some nights I don't get there.

In answer to the OP I can say that when I was not sleeping alone, I would sleep on the door side, for the same reasons that her guy says. Military training aside, most men seem to put themselves in a position to be between their loved one and possible danger. We did have a first-floor bedroom with a huge set of picture windows, then I slept next to the window. It was a less secure side to me, so that was where I belonged. I am a very light sleeper and actually woke up and caught a peeping tom because he stepped on a stick while looking in the window.Unfortunately, the police showed up and rescued him, the neighbor called.

One last post, I want to again thank you, Danielle, for a truly lovely poem. It is wonderful. The devotion is in the words, thank you. Principessa, thank you for 'Flanders Field', it was also a very well known poem when I was in school and poppies were passed out at the schools as well.

Dee, Randy, and Martin thank you for sharing your families contributions to our freedom. As you might guess this is a passion of mine. I believe we need to stop seeing the soldiers as soldiers alone. They are our family, friends, and neighbors. They saw a duty or responsibility and grabbed it with both hands. I am so very thankful for the gift your family members gave us. I would like to have been able to shake their hands and tell them so. Martin your family sounds like mine, long lines of service.

Jack, your father may have the most impressive story I have ever read. It is tragic what his country and even his adopted countries did to him. It was truly barbaric, but I do have to take exception to your other post .....

So all this adds up to the fact that war is a bad idea. So don't do it rather than eulogize the poor bastards who you conscripted to carry out the insanity.

As I do agree that it is a fact that war is a stupid and horrible idea. I have never met a soldier that felt like a "poor bastard" for what they were doing. And as far as conscripted, during WWII no one had to be forced into service, and your father certainly wasn't conscripted. Hell, he went from country to country, none his own, to help stop what he felt to be wrong. Do you think he felt like a "poor bastard"? As I have said, my own country was not immune to this, they treated the Viet Nam vet like criminals. Your father and every other vet deserve better. I applaud your father for his patriotism. As far as dying for his country, the name is not what matters, just the people. That is who we serve. Those soldiers and friends deserve the eulogy and remembrance as well as nothing but admiration from those they served.

I read this quote some time ago and changed it a little since we are a multi-nation community. I believe it says it all.

“A veteran is someone who, at one point in their life wrote a blank check made payable to the people of their homeland for an amount up to and including their life.”

THANK YOU ALL ...... Lest We Forget
This one is for the men that we truly forgot. As a people, we were horrible to the men and women returning from Viet Nam. I realize it was probably the lest popular and possible an illegal war, but the soldiers were victims as well. For most, they were forgotten or ridiculed. We need to stand up and thank them properly......

This one I was watching and my grandson was standing in the doorway. When it ended he walked over and gave me a hug telling me ... "Thank you, Papaw" ...

These are very beautiful poems and the stories are always thrilling and inspiring. The sacrifices and commitment of the men and women that went through those times were absolutely amazing. I do not have a poem but the thread title caught me and I wanted to share a few videos that I recently (Veterans day) found and thought you might like. This first one I really like because it helps show what the soldier's heroes (his or her family) go through. Soldiers do not ever feel like heroes, it is just a duty they feel they have to meet. To us, the real heroes are the family members that have to maintain their lives while there soldier is away and in harm's way. I will forever thank God for my ex and what she sacrificed for me.

well, give me through the holidays and I would be able to get a helicopter, a Hughes 500 ......

I have not had any contact with someone that was truly rude. I have seen some rather rude comments and attitudes in the Forums though. I will never understand that type response to someone's post. I, like I assume most of you, are here for fun, entertainment, and interesting conversation, not to mention the plethora of delightful stories that surround us here. I will never understand the rude, obnoxious, arrogant and even hurtful attitudes some have shown. I have heard from friends that they have been approached by people that do not seem to take no for an answer. That seems to assume because they are on an adult site that promotes sex they have the right to play with whomever they please, then claim some type of right because they are Dom and the person they are talking to is a sub and has to submit. This is a very nieve and childish view of the way things are. I have not heard of any Dommes out here with that same attitude, which I applaud. Just because they are submissive, doesn't mean they are YOUR submissive. I would agree that the fix is to block them. I do think if an individual is blocked by enough members that perhaps they do not belong in this community .... just a thought, not for me to decide.

Is it not a possibility that there could, in certain circumstances, exist a state in which one may or may not wish, depending upon myriad contributing factors, to increase the universe of individuals exhibiting some greater or lesser degree of familiarity?
