TBH if you aren't following a specific thread, are you even really interested in it enough to be bothered by quoted responses?
Maybe there could be an option at the top of a thread where it gives the option to turn on notifications for quoted replies to your post, but not everyone bothers hitting quote whilst responding in the first place. 🤷♀️

WW - Thats a really good bit of AI work, minus the eyes and the hand morphed into the waist.
The eyes are always tricky to fix in any image editing software, it's usually easier to find eyes at the same angle on another image and touch them in. That hand would have been easier to edit and make it look like it's on the front of the waist, rather than morphed into it.

Yes. you will need another tab open with your media files on it though, for the short-term and copy & paste the image URL like you would from another external image hosting site..
Chat is in the process of being updated, one update will be to access your media in the way which you can from the forums. I am unsure how far out the update is unfortunately.
