Thank you. I think that very clearly states how it will work. And that we will need to manage things for ourselves.

Expect conversation groups named Lynn/Rob0001, Lynn/Rob0002 etc. from now on. Along with five years of historical messages all lumped into one. Bet you thought they couldn't make it worse, didn't you?
You guys actually save 5 years worth of PMs. do you like... read them too? Like just spend a couple of weeks reading all of them? Or... this is such a strange concept to me, so i'm seriously curious.
Same sister!
I will save you a seat in hell ![]()

The current mailbox doesn't support folders, so all messages were just put into your inbox when we migrated. Everything should be there, just not in a separate folder.
Plenty of conversations got lost for me unfortunately.
Were they starred before the migration occurred. If not ...
Why i asked if we needed to star anything new we want saved and carried
At this point I don't know. And I still don't know what starring would have to do with keeping or losing messages. Is there any info somewhere about this? Because to me giving a message a star would just mean it's easy to filter. I don't see any info that it has additional consequences.
With the current version of messnenger, if you "star" a message, it does not get deleted.
When we moved from V1 to V2, we all had a number of weeks to "star" certain messages we wanted to keep.
This was a space saving excercise so that messages that we didn't want to be kept could be removed - saving both storage space and running costs.
You are correct in regards to filtering, you are able to filter between the ones that have a star (permanently keep) and do not.
There was a banner message at the top of the Lushmail page for a while and also another Forum thread somewhere telling us all that this was the case with putting a "star" to messages.
If you have seriously not used; , I-message, Facebook, , Twitter, BlackBerry Messenger, , MSN, or AOL messengers then I would genuinely love some insight on what Social Media platforms, Instant chat and messengers services you have used over the last 20 years.
I would love if you could Lushmail that to me as I am actually really interested.

Now that people are told about an update - well in advance, people manufacture issues, assume that the owners, admin and developers haven't thought about potential transitional issues.Honestly? After 20+ years in IT I just expect this. You fix something that is broken or could work better and there will be someone whose first reaction is, "but that's not how I want it" or "I liked it better the old broken way." Solution is to focus on the majority. If most are cool with the change, the rest will eventually follow.
Away from Lush i work in technology.
Although my job isn't "IT" as most would associate it with what IT is typically known as being, I work within technology services for one of the worlds top 5 business within its designated sector.
I don't think there is a competitor within our sector which changes its tech more than we do.
I see the above reactions all the time with our migrations and upgrades.
Upgrading technology to what is either popular and/or or bleeding edge, is what keeps organisations relevant in 2022 against its competitors.
Lush is considered (personally at least) as one of those leaders in its own sector, so Lush needs to do what it has to do to stay up there.

- All of your messages to another member will be combined into a single message.
Not being one of the cool kids and therefore not using any of the applications mentioned, I just cannot fathom how this is a good idea. Several above have noted this as well. Yes, I'm old fashioned, but I like things grouped by subject more than sender. Maybe (quite possibly) I don't understand something about this combining of messages, but it just seems on the surface that it will be rather difficult to manage.
Along with others, I lamented the loss of folders, and this seems the next step in obfuscation.

Hey
Your messages are not grouped by subject, even now.
Messages are currently set in chronological order (unless there is a trick i have missed).
For the technophobes:
I find it hard to believe that so many "clients over 50 whom do-not use any other platforms" are on Lush but do not, or have never used one or a combination of;
, I-message, Facebook, , Twitter, BlackBerry Messenger, or even standard SMS messages which have been around for literally decades.
That is without the likes of MSN, or AOL messengers which dominated the first decade of the 2000's.
I see that many people on Lush also request to move to " ", even that uses a similar platform to the new Lush messenger when you get to the basics.
The majority of the most successul messaging platforms in the world are currently using a version similar to that which is proposed and Lush are soon adopting.
My parents are nearing their 60's, they are in the same age bracket as these clients and currently use/have used most, if not all of the examples which I have mentioned above.
My Nanny Tilly is 81 yearls old and uses Facebook and almost each day to message us.
When people are not told about an update, they are livid (I know was when Lush initially changed).
Now that people are told about an update - well in advance, people manufacture issues, assume that the owners, admin and developers haven't thought about potential transitional issues.
There is just no pleasing some people.
The real problem here though is that people do not like being told what is happening, they believe that they should have a say in the matter, largely without a technological background of the current or proposed system.

As someone above mentioned, I'm a bit concerned about "All of your messages to another member will be combined into a single message". In some cases, one may have but a single thread with someone. However, with others there may be various and sundry topics being discussed which would be, in a word, disastrous if combined.
This seems to be the main concern with the proposed new messaging platform.
We all changed platforms to the current version of Lush not so long ago.
I feel that a large portion of this great community are still skeptical to change due to the bumpy ride we all had over the last migration a few months back, and rightly so.
If that is the largest concern then Lush is in a fantastic place compared to where we were in late Summer '21 (northern hemisphere)!
Just have some optimism.
There will be various reasons for this change.
Most of those being the exact reasons why , I-Message, Facebook Messanger and others are so hugely stable and popular.
For Admin/Devs
I'd be willing to be part of testing, if it hasn't already passed that stage!
It's an exciting change, for me at least.
It's not the style messaging itself that I'm concerned about. It's the potential loss of conversations that are dear to me.
With the migration to Lush v2 I lost many of such conversations. Luckily, v1 would send all incoming messages to one's email address as well, so unless my conversation partners removed the message they were replying to, I still have all of those conversations in that inbox.
The current version of Lush however does not send the message itself to one's email address. It only sends a default email message saying one should check their Lush inbox. So this time I do not have my own backup in case the migration to this new messaging system will again mean that I will lose conversation that are dear to me (or scramble them up in such a way that they no longer make sense). That's what I'm concerned about.
Perhaps there could be an option to export existing conversations, or have them send to one's email address, before this migration. If so, then I hope this will be communicated very clearly, because the notion that one had to mark the messages that we wanted to keep during the previous migration, as HaleysPrettyGirl mentioned above, was not something I knew about. So when the migration happened, all my folders were gone. They were said to be restored, but I haven't seen them since.
You can copy and paste them to your personal email and save as drafts etc...
